Huh?
Magnus Carlsen kicked from WCC rapid and blitz
Speaking to IM Levy Rozman for Take Take Take Carlsen said he was ready to change for the next day, but not in between rounds during the tournament. He will be leaving for somewhere "where the weather is a bit nicer" and will no longer play the remaining rounds or attend the Blitz Championship. He put it in clear and strong terms:
My patience with them was not very big to begin with. and it's OK, like they can enforce their rules, that's fine by me, and my response is that fine, then I'm out, then f**k you.
i dont think it fide rules fault, cause they had warned him like, three times, and he still didnt change.
I know that its riduculous for not allowing him to wear jeans, but sometimes all u have to do is follow the rules
I think he did it on purpose since he was warned, got a fine of 200$ and then got kick. He anyway is in bad terms with FIDE for their stupid rules (such as the dresscode one), plus being childish by threatening players by threatening players who play in Magnus' FreestyleChess tournament circuit to ban them from participating in FIDE tournaments.
There might be another crisis like Kasparov did before with his own circuit.
I hope FIDE will realise how ridiculous and childish they are with their dumb outdated rules and their obsession with the monopoly of organizing and approving every single chess tournaments.
It's just a theory but doesnt look half stupid, what do you think ?
i agree with you
ik it got in the news and he said a bad word
what word
I posted what he said from the news from chess.com
So for some reason, every site BESIDES chess.com supports Fide, everyone on these forums thinks magnus was innocent.
On the jeans:
There is a strict dress code, magnus knows about it. Ian Nepo wore sports shoes, against the dress code, instead of throwing a temper tantrum like carlsen, he actually changed his shoes and competed. Carlsen was already down a point, his worst performance in decades obviously he was mad and decided to withdraw. Same with the hans niemann controversy, he had the longest win streak ever, of course he was mad and had a fit. Especially by some rando (at the time). Same with this, but he could have actually paid the fine and be let off with a warning.
Summary:
Q: Do you think fide’s dress code is stupid?
A: No. Jeans are casual wear, this is very important, they shouldn’t show up with men’s air jordan 4 retro fears and a hoodie, or a crop top and skirt, they should be showing up in suits and dress shoes but oh come on. Jeans are literally business casual. Ripped jeans I would understand though.
Q: Do you think Magnus handed the situation poorly?
A: Yes. Very. He could have just paid the fine but nope. We have another hans niemann cheating scandal but it’s not about cheating.
But considering the age ranges on this site compared to other social medias, I am not surprised that you think complaining makes you the victim.
(Sorry guys, I copied this from another forum; but I TOTALLy AGREE! Magnus knew the rules and for some reason thought that he could be above them.
There are standards to be upheld. Especially for those of us who really care about chess, we want the whole world to respect and appreciate chess. Just like athletic sportsmen have uniforms, these dress codes serve the same purpose - they identify these intellectuals as chessmen!
Following the rules is important - and dressing respectably is important. This was by no means unfair since Magnus knew in advance. He wasn't even staying that far from the venue - walking distance!
Yes, he is the GOAT. But, rules should apply to everyone - that's fairness. There shouldn't be any favorite children in the chess family. If they let him get away with it, then, why should any of the other players respect the dress code?! Chess would very obviously have become rigged if the rules were, not just bent, but broken for the sake of a single player. The integrity of the competition has been upheld.
Nevertheless, I do think that the arbiter could have worked out an agreement with Magnus. Letting him change after that game or something like that - making it clear that the rules are impartial (because justice does not play favorites), while also showing reasonableness and understanding for his forgetting.
Be well Magnus.
Keep chessing guys, and stay Briany!
