If I ask the members if they want a vote chess game, I MIGHT get one or two replies. If I START a vote chess game, half a dozen people will join right away and more as time goes by.

Reading all this messages/posts, i just get the feeling there are way to many clubs. Expectations cannot be answered 'normal' because most of the players are members of several clubs.  A player simply cannot ("will not" grows inside peoples mind receiving more and more) react when you get too many messages. People just want to play. Not everyone has the urge to react and that needs respect also.    Try to connect to people and otherwise, let them 'go'. Pushing can be felt like harassment too and you will make it worse...   Good luck!  happy.png  Maybe it is an idea that members who did not play for a year (for the purpose of your club) can be 'deleted' as a member...  What is more important, being a bigger club or being a succesfull club? A question we can ask ourselves wink.png

About twice a year I'll delete the zombie members (those who have not logged on for a year or more).

I would agree there are way too many clubs. And there are way too many clubs with only one member.

One reason why a club merger feature would be nice.  A lot of people think they want to run a club but when they find it actually takes work, the club goes mostly inactive.  But if they could merge it with 2-3 other clubs, 2-3 admins might be able to run a successful club for the long haul.

A one  member group is helpful to admins. I don’t know how other admins do it. But I always write news in my one member group forum first to make sure it’s perfect. Then copy/paste to send it out.

I save it as a draft and review it before publishing.

I've seen Not-so Pro Chess League admins publish it in the HQ club before they publish it in the main club.

I've seen this suggestion a few times and there are certainly benefits. It would take a lot of admin work, though, because I believe that the members should be notified. Polling them in the first instance would be nice but this isn't the real World and it's very unlikely that many, if any, members would object. Then comes the job of weeding out the inactive members of the weaker club. Ay yay yaaayy!!

I won't argue with that but I'm pretty sure that many clubs are founded to satisfy someone's ego.
