For those who would like to tell everyone a bit about yourself , I thought it would be a good idea to start a member introduction forum topic.   So many groups on chess.com have an 'anonymous' feel to them. I'd like ours to be a bit more friend-oriented. Take a minute to let us know who you are and how long you've been a Doctor Who fan. Smile

My name is David. I'm 52 (in a few weeks), married with 7 kids (4 are mine and 3 are my wife's) who range in age from 9 to 30. I'm a network administrator for an organization that gives homes to kids and single moms called the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children.

I played chess as a preteen and had a rating in the 1300's. I quit playing until just a few years ago. If it weren't for chess.com, I'd still not be playing.

I watched Doctor Who when I was a teenager growing up in Oklahoma. It would come on PBS late at night after Monty Python and  Benny Hill. I never got to watch it much then. Tom Baker, the 4th Doctor, was the Doctor then. I thought it was cool, but couldn't watch it enough to keep up with it. I found out the series had been restarted in 2004, and bought the DVD's for each season last year. Now, my wife and I and her three boys (especially the 9 and 11 year olds) are all big time Doctor Who fans.

Hi fellow Whovians! My real name is Lisa and I live in Melbourne, Australia with my husband and my two little boys aged 5 and 3. I've been a Doctor Who fan since I was little, when Jon Pertwee played the third Doctor. My favourite Doctor Who is Tom Baker, although I also like the Eleventh Doctor and Dozen. My favourite companion is Sarah Jane Smith. I also love chess of course - it's awesome playing a game invented by Time Lords!

Hi everyone. My name is Mark and I'm married to Lynne (32 years in August). We have two children 30 and 28, one grandchild 5 and another on the way. I have watched Doctor Who since it started. My favourite doctors are Patrick Troughton and David Tennant.

I'm retired and spend my days playing sports writing walking my dog. I love most things SF and am also a keen Bond fan.

Hello!

I'm Steve, and I'm a music teacher.

Here in the US, we got a glimpse of Doctor Who on the local PBS stations, but they were shown at odd times and it was hard to follow.  We only knew Tom Baker as the Doctor, and most of didn't realize there were others!

Hello all!  My name is Brian.  I am married with a 3 year old daughter, who dressed up as the Tardis for the last Comic Con we attended.  I've been playing chess since I was about 12 and have been a serious Doctor fan for the last five years or so.  I've gone back and watched some of the originals too and enjoy them as well.  When I am not playing chess I run a martial arts school, act in short films and have crazy dance parties with my daughter.

Greetings.  My name is Dracir Alexis.  I am 54 and single.  I am a Network Administrator for a law firm in New Orleans.  I starting watching Doctor Who as a boy in the 60's.  Thanks to the internet, I think I have watched all of the Doctor Who episodes, including the ones starring the first Doctor, played by William Hartnell.  Prior to the reboot, my favorite Doctor, hands down, was Tom Baker.  Jelly Baby, anyone!?

I started playing chess, when I was 12.  Thought I was good until I joined my high school team as a junior.  The guy who would be captain and first board that year beat me 83 games in a row, before I finally won one against him.  It was a great learning experience.  I played off and on until 1986, after which I didn't play chess again until 2014.  My assistant urged me to join him on chess.com.  I'm glad he did.  I play too many games simultaneously now. hahaha  However, I'm proud to say that I have completed 1,100 games without any losses due to Timeouts.

I hope to represent the Time Lords with honor and respect in all of my matches.

Hi, my name is Chris.  My wife (kbthegreat) and two sons (ArcherQW and Holden314) love frequenting the chess.com site.  I'm the weakest of our little tribe.  I've recently been exploring from a social standpoint and thought nothing better to celebrate my true self than being here.

Every Friday night, me and my boys pick a Doctor Who episode to watch from our collection of the new series and the classic series.  I only started watching during the new series, so the Eleventh Doctor is my favorite with the Fourth coming in a close second.  Also, I always root for the Gallifrey Timelords on the FSL Tonight podcast :)

My name is Kerry.  I started playing chess and high school and continued in college at Penn State.  We had a very good team and I was happy to play against tough competition.  We analyzed the games we played together and I learned a lot.  However, I started to become very competitive and I was disappointed if I won a game but still made mistakes.  I was devastated by losses.  I realized I was not having fun anymore and stopped playing for almost 30 years.  Several years ago I saw a good friend and his son play again and I realized I would like to play again.  I have had fun ever since and really do not take the game seriously anymore.

Hi people! I'm Ylva, I'm 17 years old, I live in Gothenburg, Sweden and I love music, dream music, eat music and study music. I started composing my own music about nine years ago, and the last years has been full of composing, school and a dull depression.

Tenth Doctor is my favourite! I sing and play the cello and a bit of piano. My father the jazz pianist, composer and music teacher taught me chess when I was seven- he never let me win and I learned to play to play, not to win.

I am a feminist who loves Doctor Who, The Beatles, Bjork, Beethoven, Shostakovich, Olof Palme, Stravinsky, Skating Polly, Palestrina, Cowboy Bebop, Michael Ende, The Nujabes, Joni Mitchell, Nirvana, Tove Jansson, Edward Snowden, A Tribe Called Quest, Aku no Hana, John Adams, Doaglas Adams, Thom Yorke, Rufus Wainwright, Wayne Shorter and Esperanza Spalding.

That is me for short! Hugs Whoever! ,)

Hello, I'm Don, 54 years old, living in Tennessee (USA). I have watched both older versions and newer versions of Doctor Who over the years and I prefer the modern ones the best. I watched the entire series up through season 8 on Netflix. Wating to see season 9 but I don't get the BBC (America) channel, so I'll have to wait a while. Love chess, win or lose!!

Greetings to All...
