For those who would like to tell everyone a bit about yourself , I thought it would be a good idea to start a member introduction forum topic. So many groups on chess.com have an 'anonymous' feel to them. I'd like ours to be a bit more friend-oriented. Take a minute to let us know who you are and how long you've been a Doctor Who fan.
The following rules must be adhered to at all times. Also, every group member is expected to make at least one post referencing some general form of acknowledgement and agreement below. "Yes, Doctor" is a perfectly good response, unless it's being written sarcastically, in which case, it's a perfectly great response. 1. Never, ever, ever abbreviate Doctor. It is ALWAYS Doctor Who and NEVER Dr. Who2. 'wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey' is an approriate response to any question, and isn't an arguable point.3. The word 'sonic' can be used as a verb.4. Always remember that, though the Doctor Who! group is externally a small part of the chess.com web site, it is bigger on the inside, and actually encompasses the entire Internet. Treat this forum accordingly!5. If you must post a secret that you can't tell anyone, always preface what you write with the word, "Spoilers!"6. At least once each week, while typing in the forum, you must wear a bow tie, white or black Converse All-Stars, a stetson, long muticolored scarf (you know which one), or a fez.7. When referring to The Doctor, always write 'The Doctor'. Never refer to him as 'Doctor Who'. Doctor Who is the name of the show.8. At all times, remember that The Doctor doesn't look human: We look Time Lord. That always helps me type more confidently.9. Any mention of Donna Noble must be followed by an, "Oi!".10. If you see the words, "Bad Wolf", in any language, report it immediately.

'It's Bigger on the Inside': US Military Accused of Recovering a UFO That 'Distorted Space-Time' (msn.com) A top attorney involved in bringing UFO whistleblowers to Congress claimed that a crashed alien craft recovered by the US military "distorted space-time" and was "bigger on the inside," RadarOnline.com has learned. Daniel Sheehan shared this mind-boggling tale with DailyMail.com, which he says was recounted by a whistleblower who allegedly participated in a program retrieving crashed non-human spacecraft. This claim is the latest in a series of stunning allegations this week regarding the US government's possession of multiple crashed "non-human" crafts. The Department of Defense has denied any verifiable information to support these claims. However, Sheehan has been helping bring whistleblowers like David Grusch to Congress to expose what he believes is a government cover-up of extraterrestrial encounters. Grusch, a former senior Air Force intelligence officer, filed his first whistleblower complaint with the DoD Inspector General in July 2021, alleging that defense officials had failed to properly disclose UFO crash retrieval programs to Congress. Grusch served as the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) representative to the UFO task force from 2019 to 2021 and then co-led "unidentified anomalous phenomena" analysis for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency until July 2022. Sheehan claims that Grusch provided scores of classified documents and photos to the DoD Inspector General. Sheehan says that the alleged crash retrieval program insider told him that they recovered a 30ft saucer partially embedded in the earth with "fantastical" properties. Sheehan declined to provide further details, including the location and the date of the incident, admitting that he couldn't provide evidence for the claims. Skeptics often dismiss these stories of off-world UFOs stored by secret government programs due to the lack of details, documents, and photos. Physicists have theorized that the propulsion of an advanced craft could involve warping space-time around it to negate the effects of gravity. Sheehan shared that space was not the only dimension around the warped craft. However, Sheehan declined to give further details on these claims. Jim Shell, a former Chief Scientist of the Space Innovation and Development Center at Air Force Space Command, wrote on LinkedIn Monday to support his former colleague Grusch. "I will vouch for the integrity of Dave Grusch! Getting to the bottom of this is elusive and problematic, to say the least," Shell wrote. "I will assert no matter the conclusion of extraterrestrial materials or not, the DoD and IC security apparatus is in trouble, and unwitting accomplices are fostering an abusive system."
I've been an avid Doctor who fan for some time; since I was introduced to it by my friends in school. Recently, my mom's co-worker (a Torchwood fan) tried getting into modern Doctor Who, and we exchanged serries. she loved it instantly but quit around Matt Smith. I started and finished the first season of Torchwood, but it isn't really my cup of tea. IMO, Most of the characters except Captain Jack are just unlikeable. are there episodes that I can skip through? which episodes/movies are absolutely essential in the Torchwood experiance? I may just follow the "liztellsfrank watch/skip list", but I'd like a solid opinion from the Doctor Who community.

Doctor Who says things in about every episode that I'd like to remember. Having a forum on Doctor Who quotes should help me remember them, and amaze my children with my level of Whovian knowledge. Feel free to post any Dooctor Who quote you like. If you can, post the season/series and episode where they were spoken. It doesn't have to be something the Doctor spoke, either. I'll try to post something daily, mostly. I found this web site of Doctor Who quotes from the modern series. If someone finds one with all of the older Doctor Who quotes, please post it. I was a teenager when Tom Baker was the Doctor. I don't remember specific things he spoke, but I remember quite a few things he said being funny/enjoyable. http://www.planetclaire.org/quotes/doctorwho/

Hi Guys, Ive not been a member here for very long but I would like to share an observation. In the tournaments that I have played for Doctor Who and am currently involved in I found that I’m consistently outranked! I’m a 1425 player and have always find myself matched against players 300 points stronger. Initially I thought that this was because we are short of players at the ‘senior’ end. But no this isn’t the case. We have multiple players at the top end of ratings. I can only conclude that for some reason they don’t want to represent Doctor Who in these tournaments. im not looking for sympathy but would love to know why players aren’t participating?
Dear chess players. Question: Who is the best chess player ever?

I think I fell asleep before the end of the last episode (the season finale) on BBC America. And now I discover it won't be re-run this Saturday. What happened in it?

How well do you know the names of Doctor Who characters? Let's start a name game. The first post will list the name of a companion, main character (like Captain Jack Harness, River Song, etc.), planet, or monster/alien. After that, the next person will use the SECOND letter of the first or last name to list another companion, main character, planet, or monster/alien, but you can't list a name that has already been used. An example would be Doctor and then Ood, or Gallifrey then Amy. If you can't think of something or someone, here are lists of aliens and characters from (I think) every Doctor Who episode.Monsters & Aliens: http://www.thedoctorwhosite.co.uk/doctorwho/characters/aliens/ Companions: http://www.thedoctorwhosite.co.uk/doctorwho/characters/companions/ BUT ... if you use an episode guide, you have to list the season & episode where you found the name. Let's see how long we can keep this going.

We have several vote chess and team matches in progress right now. Our group has almost doubled in the last month though, and quite a few people were not members when the original messages about these vote chess games and team matches were sent. Because of that, I thought it might be a good idea to post something in the forum for everyone. Doctor Who! vs. Gothic Team Match is in the sign up stage and starts April 6th. Gothic has 12 people signed up and has been holding there for several days. We have 13 signed up. You're welcome to join that team match, but only 12 will play unless Gothic has more of thweir members join the match up. Here is the link: http://www.chess.com/groups/team_match?id=508976Kasparov and the Doctor 1600 - 1900 team match with the Kasparov Chess Club is in the sign up stage. That match begins April 2nd. I set it to be able to start with four players. Please join if you are in that rating range. Here is the link: http://www.chess.com/groups/team_match?id=512250 Kasparov and the Doctor u1600 team match is also in the sign up stage, and begins April 2nd. If your rating is 1599 or less, you can join it by going here: http://www.chess.com/groups/team_match?id=512266 We have a Chess 960 team match with the 'Doru-66 and His Best Friends' group that is in the sign up stage. Evidently, that group has quite a few members that play Chess 960. They have 49 signed up. We have 10 thus far. The match starts March 30th. This match was set with a minimum of 4 players, so there will be as many games as we have members who join that match. Click here if you'd like to join: http://www.chess.com/groups/team_match?id=509106 We currently have 4 Vote Chess games, and we could really use some more players to add input on each move. You can join a Vote Chess game at any time. You do not have to join them when they first begin. Click on the game names below to join. 'Protecting Our Brains From The Cybermen' against the Cybermen group. 'Doctor Who! Open Seek' against the Courageous Few Group 'Return To Your Parallel Universe' against the Cybermen Elite group. 'Doctor Who! Open Seek' against the Black Knight Chess Club Also, all Team Matches and Vote Chess games are set for 3 days per move. Team Matches are set for either one game per player or two. There will never be more than two games per player or less than three days perr move on any team match we set up.
