i played against him with this variant.
I'll give you a strategy.
NOT try to get the hill at the game start, you can put your queen in the hill if you like win with the hill in the starting.

Regardless of how well-made a position is, we cannot accept it if it is extremely similar to a position that was already accepted. This position is almost an exact copy of vertical chess (full 8-wide regular chessboard width, otherwise the same with different rules), an old variant that was deleted for unpopularity. We don't accept positions similar to deleted positions because those positions were deleted for a reason (in this case, unpopularity, which implies that this position will also be unpopular).
