Old version

https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/ncp-the-x-of-tricks

Rules: 2 player, Capture The King, 7+, 40pt. Checkmate.

Time Control: 3|7

Pawns promote to Grasshopper, Wildebeest, Knight-Rider, Camel-Rider, or Hawk on the 8th rank.

Tip: Keep your royal (Alibaba) safe. (see game 2)

Changes: Added more pawns (so that you had to stop easy promotion (to stop the turtling)), gave more space (more room to attack), got rid of one Amazon (tried to get rid of piece spam and force you to protect your amazon as you will only ever have one!), as and relocated the other (to provide some protection to the Royal Piece), changed king to Alibaba (harder to escape checks, hopefully helps get rid of turtling possibility's), more checks (a little less safety for Royal Piece, tried to keep the game going longer), longer time control (needed more thinking time), got rid of some pieces (to get rid of piece spam), rearranged other pieces (wanted more space to attack on the outside of the X), got rid of the excess of promotion options (to fix what @TheChessDude991 had said about the excess of promotion options), added dead pieces around the Royal Piece (to make it easier for the Grasshopper to give checks) and in the center (to limit the mobility of the Riders).

PLEASE MAKE WALLS TRANSPARENT!

I saw this like thirty minutes ago, looks neat. I was testing one of my own games though so I didn't play

I know. You can guard them, tho.

Since this is a revised position, please explain not only what changes you made, but how they address the issues we commented on in the original version.

The main things we found here were that there was a piece spam[sic], and the ability to turtle with one's pieces made the game dull. Another thing was the excess of promotion options: usually positions that allow a promotion to (almost) every piece become too chaotic.

If you would like to submit a revision of a previously-declined NCP, you may. In these cases, only 5 test games are needed, so long as the position is similar enough to the original and you provide an explanation about what was changed, and why.

Thanks,

Unlike other similar posted positions, this is a pretty thoughtful and interesting one. Nice work!
