Bare Piece

Promotion

Queen, Bishop, Rook, Knight on the 8th rank

Note

Just a remake of Asean chess on chess.com. See here at https://www.pychess.org/variants/asean The bishop is a ferz tha can move one square forward so I used a king. The queen is a ferz. Also, please fix bare piece bug in Gamee 6 and 7.

Status: Declined

Reason: The game is too similar to Chaturanga but is worse in many ways; the openings are very limited because of strength of the kings and the endgames are too drawish. In Makruk, weaker kings decided a lot, here the kings are way too defensive and strong.

Shouldn’t promotion be Ferz, King, Rook, Knight (or better 1-point Queen, Bishop, Rook, Knight with 1-point Queen and Bishops) on the 6th rank?

FYI, the reason why Bare Piece Rule didn't take effect was because if you are able to eliminate your opponent's last piece directly after they eliminate yours, then the server doesn't automatically forfeit you. Why the game didn't end in an immediate draw after that is beyond me though.

ASEAN rules replace the Queen and Bishop moves with their Makruk counterparts but International Chess names.

But it has to be a little bit different

Isn’t it more than little bit different if you can promote a pawn to a piece which doesn’t appear in the opening setup?

Yeah, you should make promotion to Rook, Knight, Ferz and King

Or switch Ferz and King for Bishop and 1-point Queen and make promotion to Rook, Knight, Bishop and 1-point Queen.

Ideas: change non-royal kings to another type of pieces, add points
