Some principles I can add is that the way to win is to stalemate the opponents ferz, the main point is you want to block your opponents pawns progress or trade favorably with atomic in order to gain a piece advantage to block your opponent and win. I have deduced my main strategy as being to establish control of the center by capturing for promotion to a knight or bishop, from there you want to capture with the pawn in front of your ferz in order to release your ferz into the board later on, and establish pieces to block/trade.
The layout was improvised off of the game of life in a sense, to fill the board with things or allow the player to pick where to land was not the idea, rather the pawns could promote in various areas but would need to be limited by the layout of the walls in order to promote interesting gameplay. The layout of the board really didn't change, but I had a go with a few of the options being torpedo, sideways, atomic, and ultimately changing the royal pawn to a royal ferz added the necessary win condition for the template.
now, @Trento007
quite some time ago i actually made a variant actually based on conway's game of life
unfortunately it's horribly designed and the game like took forever to finish

also the image on the original post by Trento007 is a broken image symbol and inspect element shows it actually has no source url at all
No strategy whatsoever, I see this in the same way that there seemed little to do when you could not gain a piece advantage even with atomic creating challenges. At first thought I can modify the board to be a bit more restrictive in some areas. Alternatively sideways can be removed, this makes it easier to block your opponents promotions and secure a stalemate, however without a piece advantage this was still mostly futile.
