Reason: The idea of manipulating the zombies, intricacies of picking the right piece in the right situation to block the zombies is interesting, but that's the only exciting thing about the variant. The only and the best viable strategy is to block xiangqi horse and let ferz infiltrate in the endgame. 5th rank promotion and powerful, not senseful pieces are not helping the game either, making the middlegame play very stale. A great concept, but for now declined.

Yeah, it probably isn’t familiar with the elephant design on the promotion, which represents a chancellor, or the hawk design, which represents an archbishop. Likewise, it doesn’t usually see promotion to a duck.
too many strong pieces and the whole game is trading, even with munchers I think they should be dabbaba or at least knight
