After some natural development you can see neither player wants to trade the pieces, whoever takes is likely to be behind in the race if the king is able to capture last. The squares are all quite covered preventing the kings advance without some skirmish.
In order to remedy these issues I suggest the most delicate approach may be to remove the wall on the square I have circled in blue. This allows more avenues to race towards the finish line and possibly more counterplay. Another solution or added variety may be to put some pawns in the center opening above and between the walls which could force some trading of minor instead of major pieces, these pawns can promote at a later rank.
