playing for a greek gift is really just hope chess. Black is not obliged to take the sacrifice and he's still fine

I love the Italian and I would say that I have a pretty good understanding of the opening. From what I’ve experienced it’s a pretty strategical and positional opening though, you can get some really nice attacks with it. If you’re not enjoying the opening I would recommend you try playing something else like the Danish gambit, or the Vienna.

Vienna is so much better than the Danish...

Idk because I’ve never played either though the Bc4 Danish looks fun to play

The mainline just goes to an endgame where black is up a pawn. Pretty dry really.

Scotch is simpler than the Vienna. Most simple e4 e5 opening I know.

As a former Vienna main, Vienna isn't that good. Black is very comfortable in almost every variation you could imagine

God, does that sound boring. I thought it would be some fun aggressive gambit.

Thunder7

This is the mainline and one I would probably play as black.

I think this is it

it's not even about studying the main lines, black just plays the Knights out and the bishop to b4 probably and white doesn't really have f4 on the cards (like ever) and castling long is too risky because black can just play c6 b5 a5 Philidor style etc. in the Max Lange lines with bc4, the bishop just gets traded off early etc. Not that many advantages to playing Vienna besides the lack of theory and trying to trick people into accepting the Vienna gambit

if they play d3 and nc3 you could literally just copy what white's doing and get a completely fine position

Thank you all
