New Computer Bots

Can someone from staff or otherwise explain the new computer bots showing up in live play? I presume this is related to prior hints of giving the computer varying personalities or playing styles. If so, this would be an exciting development. Any info would be appreciated.

Yes those are new Chess.com computers to play with us in live server ! 👍🤠

But I play on app only. If someone can kindly list all the new exciting personalized Bots ? Thank you 🙂

Hello friends, who is volunteering for a friendly game?wp.png

Wrong forum.  We are talking about new exciting Chess.com BOTS to play with.

Are the bots randomly joining games or are you talking about komodo in the live chess server?

@Ahmed-BOT, @Alexander-BOT, @Aron-BOT, @Charles-BOT, @Isla-BOT. I know those 5 only so far. They are like Komodos but a little humanized. For example: Aron-BOT constantly offer you draw when he’s losing ! That’s very human like behavior!

I counted 30 via member search for bot, each with a cartoon-ish avatar, all added 16 October

I am also counting 30, each joined Oct. 16, 2019, and each with a different nationality and personality or style of play. They also were assigned different starting ratings, which I imagine was reflective of what staff felt were their abilities.

Only some of them appear to have been turned on Nov. 1 for live play, or at least, maybe 10 at any one time were turned on. New Komodo levels 21-24 also appeared Nov. 1, with initial ratings of up to 3000. At the same time, several Komodo levels were being taken off and on line, and stockifsh and Komodo Boss disappeared for a while. Then, all bots and levels 21-24 were taken off line early Nov. 2, and have not returned yet. Komodo levels thru 20, Komodo Boss and Stockfish all returned to live play over the weekend, and seem to be in their playing range as of mid-October.

For live play against computers, this is an exciting development. I guess staff will announce more details once they fully come on-line.  If you are able to play any of the bots, please leave a note as to their names and playing abilities.

I have played with 3 BOTS so far:
@Charles-Bot is a high rated nice bot. He sometimes offer you a draw when you are losing.

@Aron-BOT is bad sport low rated BOT. He constantly offers you draw when he’s losing. I highly recommend to turn on “Don’t Show Draw Offer For This Game” when you play him.

I have only played @Isla-BOT once. I don’t know her well enough to have an opinion yet.

Did they die? I don't see em. Must've made them a bit too realistic.

@Charles-BOT always say he’s too tired but never too tired to play. I guess he’s finally tired from playing. @Aron-BOT said he never met Bobby Fischer. I guess he went to meet the newly crowned Fischer Random World Chess Champion Wesley So.

We are in the process of getting these up and running. They are not 100% done yet.

Is it because I reported Aron for being a bad sport?

Thanks to the admin for their reply on getting the bots on-line. I counted another 14 new ones today, for maybe 44 bots making an appearance over the last 4 days.

I have now played two of the beginner level bots. Here are my comments on them ---

I played Mina-BOT 11-4-19. She brought out the Q on move 2. After she lost the Q 7 moves later, as well as many other pieces and pawns, I mated on move 27.

I also played Fabian-BOT 11-4-19. He had an offbeat opening as white, then almost immediately started losing pieces. Incredibly, I promoted on pawn on move 6, then had two Qs on the board in the opening. After taking away most of his pieces, I mated on move 18.

Fabian also has a sense of humor. At the start of the game, he sent me a chat note saying “bet you have never seen this before!” He then played the Grob, 1. g4. And no, I have never seen that before.

Does anyone else have any experience with the new bots?

There will be 60 total new bots for now

AWESOME!!

yeah! this is a very cool development for computer chess! Of course, more serious players probably want higher levels of stockfish/komodo in order to have the best replies, but, at least for me, i never liked the robotic play at lower levels with the artificial blunders that almost any player would ever play. For the little experience i had with bots, there weren't comical blunders, but a lot of less than exact moves, which gave a smoother and closer to reality game. It makes me remember chessmaster about 20 or 30 years ago! happy.png
