New Idea: Crash Square Chess

Can you please help me refine this or just tell me if I need to discard this idea

Details:

Normal Standard Position

3 minute time standard

At every turn (white and black both move), a random square on the board disappears, meaning you cant go there the following turn. Every turn, the "crash" square moves to a different location. Crash square locations are completely random; some computer decides.

yeah, but this is random without player intervention so it adds a bit of luck in the game, which is always fun.

How about, the "crash square" CAN be an occupied square that is NOT the king?

and you have to capture the king (regicide i think) and check isn't highlighted.

I don't want it to be an occupied square because it may discourage players or make the game slightly unfair.

I agree with the capture the king idea to add a little more of a twist to it

If you can't do it with what's given to you in the editor, you can't submit it.

The closest thing I can think of is making this Duck and adding Green as a Rando bot, and being completely inaccessable by the players (Green will need 2 moveable pieces that do not have interlapping squares). However, this would give White an advantage because White can use the duck against Black, but not vice versa. To balance this, you could duplicate the Green Rando system for Blue, meaning neither White nor Black can influence each other. However, this would make it be ever half a turn, but it's the closest you can do.

I think there should also be invisible blocks that can be moved on but the crash cannot happen on that square like the geometry dash editor blocks

You should post this idea in a collective thread, such as https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/variants-server-suggestions-post-4pc-merge. So many people are posting new threads like this without thinking how much it’s flooding the club forum.

As I have never made a custom variant before, I do not understand

unfortunately like 2b said you can't implement the crash thingy in the editor lol but here's my go at it

Explanation:

The player with the name "Rando" is actually a bot. A Rando bot will move randomly, however since they have no pieces all they can do is place down the bricks, thus the square is gone. Maybe one could setup a timer to make it place the brick down every few moves

Although this means the "crash" thingy leaves like a trail of icky bricks
