I offer myself to be one of your beta-testers. I´ve been beta-tester before :). Do you know a program called "chess position trainer" for PC, I used that programs for ages to study openings, if your program is about Opening training software probably is similar to that PC freeware application (can be a source of ideas)

I have used the software you mentioned. Also Chess Opening trainer. My idea is a little different. I am working with a IM who will be commenting on the moves and ideas behind them, not just memorization of the moves but more.

Updated image. I decided to tweak the Home icon to fit more with Apple's motif.
If there's a difference between that and the first image you posted, I'm afraid to admit that I'm not seeing it...
The difference is in the icon. Here is a pict of it alone. The first one did not have the vignette background.

Added an annotations check box on selection screen and constructed the main "play" screens.

Will the app be focussed on providing a handy reference tool - or are you thinking of ways for individual users to build/save personal repertoires here also?

Have not thought of the reference tool. But a good suggestion. I am planning on having a sample of games from each opening that illustrate the principles behind them.
