New Pieces
Boulder: Can't move but captures like a king.
Snowball: Moves and captures like a rook, but when it captures something, the piece itself also gets taken off the board.
Trebuchet: Move and capture the same way as Snowball, but when it captures, it also captures all pieces in a 1-square radius.
Plane: Trebuchet, but moves like bishop instead of rook.
Pope: Archbishop + King.
Skipper: A pawn that can jump over 1 square when moving and capturing. Moves forwards and captures diagonally. Also has the option to move like a regular pawn.
Fish: A pawn that moves like Sergeant and captures like Pawn.
Emperor: King + Widebeast.
Empress: Queen + Widebeast.
Helicopter: Bishop + Wazir.
Butler (Please come up with a better name): King + Camel.
Maid (Please come up with a better name): Queen + Camel.
Wildebeast-rider: Knight-rider + Camel-rider.
Oh, and there are all the pieces in this forum.
En passant is a non-displacement capture.
Checkers has non-displacement captures and uses the same board as Chess.
Having a set of chess pieces with additional checkers moves will make en passant feel like less of an irregularity in the rules of chess.

Snowball is a rook with fatal capture
Trebuchet is an atomic rook
Plane is an atomic bishop
Pope literally adds 4 squares its not important plus archbishop is cooler
Skipper is interesting
We don't need more pawns
Emporer and empress aren't nessecary
HELICOPTER HELICOPTER also not nessecary
Butler and maid sound trash and weak and aren't nessecary anyway
Wildebeest rider is an actually good idea
I think that now the number of topics regarding new pieces is growing too big and we need to place all these comments into one giant topic. I will say first, through, @sngtrein I would call that piece a squirrel, based on its name on Wikipedia.

I doubt most people here will agree with you on most of the pieces you think are unnecessary. Also, are you trying to say that it is wrong if @2bHNST wants fatal capture and atomic not to be all-or-nothing rules?
Y'all, don't quote entire posts, especially if it's a chain; I'm all for civil discussion but it's more productive when people can actually see what the main point of the post being replied to is
Markerous Marker: Can move and capture anywhere on the board. (100 points)
Atomic Bomb: Capture pieces and every 20 points, you get an atomic bomb. On your turn, instead of moving a piece, you can place an atomic bomb anywhere vacant on the board that is not right next to your opponent's royal. Everything 1 square around it except for the pawns explode. The atomic bomb also gets removed.
Before the bomb on D5
After the bombing on D5
.
.
Landmine:
This one is hard to explain.
1: After Move 10: You can place a landmine instead of making a move.
2: You only have one per game
3: If you place the landmine right next to your opponent's king, your opponent's king has to move so it is one square away from the landmine.
4: They only last one move
5: You can't capture the landmine
6: Normal rules still apply
White places the landmine on D7. Black's king has to move away from it as shown above.
This is checkmate because the white landmine is on E7, and you can't eat the landmine.
This is also checkmate because of THE ROOK!
In this, can you find Black's checkmate?
@2bHNST the Landmine also breaks the rules because it is uncapturable and it can be placed on any empty square.

but it only lasts one move before it gets taken away
