I decided to change the variant I'm working on to no longer be play 4 mate, although I wish that it was possible to adjust the points for capturing bishops as the practical value of bishops on a 6 by 6 board isn't 5 points, and non royal kings probably have slightly more practical value than bishops and knights.

The Name is Kings Family Visit

I heard about these two variants on a YT channel called Triple S Games. I was hoping these two could be added to variants at some point.
1. Octopawn
Octopawn is played on a 4x4 board. The 1st rank contains all white pawns, and black pawns fill the 4th rank. The pawns have no home rank, so they only move one square at a time, thus, no en passant can be done. Captures still happen as in standard chess. The goal is to get one pawn to the other end of the board. Since you win when the pawn reaches the end, there is also no promotion. So yeah, it's pretty much a "I have only a minute before my appointment" type of variant.
2. Color Chess
The goal is to force your opponent's moves using the colored board, and capture the enemy king. There are no checkmates. First, the 8x8 board is set up randomly, in a pattern of one player's choice, or both players can take turns setting up the colored board by taking turns placing one of 6 colors on the board. Play begins when the board is filled up. Pieces are set up as normal. Whites first move is any legal move by standard chess rules, and after this move each player gets 2 moves per turn. The first move of the turn must be onto a square that is the color of the square your opponent made their last move on. If a legal move is available, you must play it, even if it worsens your position. This step can be skipped if there are no moves that follow this rule. The second move must be with a different piece, and to a different color than what you just moved to. If you can't move a different piece, or can't move a piece to a different color, you must skip your second move. If this occurs, your opponent will skip their first move, and can move any piece to any color. When castling, the color that the king moves to is what counts, but both are considered to have moved from castling, and neither can be moved again in the same turn. Unlike standard chess, your king can move out of or through check while castling. En passant is still allowed as normal on the first or second move of the very next turn. The end space for the pawn performing en passant is the color that counts for the move. You cannot move a piece again during that turn if you promoted it during your first move. If you want you can stay in check or intentionally walk into check. The winner is the first player to capture the opposing king.
Thanks for suggesting these! They seem fun but unfortunately they can only be coded in by the developers who are at the moment quite busy with other things, such as making the variants server less unstable, and this would take a lot of work. Ultimately it would take a long time for them to implement these, so for now we'll have to stick with making custom variants out of the tools we're given. Nice ideas, though.
