New Position Workshop / Testing Thread

Just looking for feedback, not testing:
"The Whirlpool"
Diplomacy, capture the king, FFA, promote to bishop, knight, rook, king, or queen on 8th rank
Looks great! I really like the name, and how it actually fits with the position! One thing I would suggest is to make the N-check a little lower, because 12 is a fairly high N-check.
Promotion looks pretty hard to achieve, but thats OK. However, because its so hard to achieve, maybe make the pawns promote to the fairy variations of the piece. So Archbishop, Wildebeast, Elephant, General, or Amazon? This doesn't really matter much though, and it might be a bad idea, idk.
Also, one thing to note is that I highly doubt this would get accepted with diplomacy; even if it did, it would definitely be an unrated variant. Other than that though, I think it would be accepted!

Wof: Forest survival:
The goal of the game is to last longer than ur opponent, and hide from the green attacks.
Tip: try to hide your royal general in the corners and use the wazirs to block the path

On first glance (without playing it) it seems like it’s just a roulette game to see who the bot wants to attack. Even though this is a WoF, there should be a clear strategy other than just “use wazirs to hide the path” when the bot is immune and will probably take anyway.
I posted this variant as an NCV, but it was declined cuz not enough testing games. So can anyone post some ideas to improve this, or add me a friend so i can invite u? BTW, this variant is called Lightning strike, pretty similar to surprise attack
The concept of the game is to keep balance on attacking and defending your king, since it is stuck in a "palace". To attack , the player has to occupy the (from this view)the ab and mn islands and attack from the side, dig a tunnel on the bcde and jklm dead pieces, or attack the opposite opponent with grasshoppers. If you are lucky , you can save your time by letting your opponent dig the tunnel, and till the tunnel is done, you can attack its high-place archbishop.
Rules: No promotion, opposite pieces worth twice more

I’m curious, shouldn’t a variant, especially an NCV’s goal to be as unique as possible?

But I tink Amazon is to powerful for a so small space. If the amazon enter in the camp of somebody else, than is will be very very easy to checkmate because the Amazon control a lot of squares around him.
this is all the squares that an amazon can control

Thanks! So I think a Queen will be better right? The Queen is more vulnerable to Knight-Class pieces, not good at attacking, but a good defender in the Home Palace.

Haven't u played fatal giveaway? That's a custom variant on the normal chessboard with no fairy pieces

Yes, but now that variants with no custom board are no longer important, your positions should include fairy pieces.
