I'm not sure atomic is the best choice in this kind of variant, but that might just be me

Is this good? the promotion is 2nd to camel grasshopper alibaba wazir or knight, it's torpedo crazyhouse.

how this works in a nutshell is:

1. The promoting phase. You promote your sergeants or just skip promotion, since both are practical.

2. The piece fighting phase. you CANNOT place your pawns in ranks where they can promote again, so your pieces are finite. After most or all the pieces are gone, you go to the final phase.

3. The pawn fighting phase. Here is where the alfil rider comes into play. You fight for initiative in this fighting phase, and if you are lucky you can mate with sergeants and the assist of your chancellor/rider.

So the front row of pawns are useless. Epic.

crazyhouse and defense, also a cannon fodder to get a sergeant pawn exchange advantage

I forgot to remove that

I don't quite understand what crazyhouse adds to this variant. I like that you can't promote again and are left with pawns, but if pieces are traded, there is no real endgame. im not sure you can deliver a final blow with just pawns.

Ok, 2 positions.

1) Still not abandoning this one, despite the number of readjustments

Setup 18 + K, 8th=CJK, Sideways. Name is TBD. (pawns are Berolinas, for those of you who use Standard)

-

And 2)

12th=K, RB vs YG, Stalemate Loss, Blue moves first. Calling this one "To The Moon And Back"

In this one, Yellow's goal is to escort Green to promotion (end of the board), then back to the other end to reach a hill square. Red and Blue try to check Green 9 times. An alternative way for RB to win is to promote a blue pawn to a king, then reach the hill using that.

I played the second one

WIth the power of the chancellor (ESPECIALLY if in the house), and with the right initiatives you can.

BlueYoshi21

RY vs. BG, Self-Partner

Promotion only to BNR

Has an idea like this been presented before?

Yes afaik, there are some variants with bot + player Teams as well but in general there have been many "combined army" variants

Haoleyi

omg chicken man is here

PoliN999

it looks like a tradefest ngl

PoliN999
logo by me
btw the dead peices are black colored and not gray cuz u play as gray in this one and gray moves first btw
PoliN999

and yes this is a modded version of it so its not the boring original thats gonna make it declined

imchesspro0930

black seems better, though a game like this might be interesting. More piece selection might be better

PoliN999

the thing is that red has to move their king to the corner to win

PoliN999

the only thing that sucks is that there is no capture by sandwich rule

PoliN999

which would make this a bit of a tradefest
