I guess some of Bogolyubov's followers should rephrase or describe what he meant by that in wikipedia. it's a provoking statement to some groups if the statement comes without the context for which it was quoted. it's like the chessboard - to get the proper orientation, we say "white is right" - referring to h1 as white. my friend at the chess club says it is better to say "light is right". not that i care, but it wouldn't hurt us to reword things that might be construed insensitive to some.

LoL It's just a usual US craziness. I guess nobody in the coninental Europe would see anything racist in such a phrase.
alright, it doesn't matter to me. it's actually true. giving meanings to every phrase to highlight one's vulnerability is non-sense. but i think that is the growing trend now - you can't say jokes now about gay people, or any particular group of people and not be frowned upon. forget about what i'm saying.
i was just thinking stairway to heaven - Bolgolyubov's pawn formation - related to the fact that Bogolyubov means "beloved by God" in Russian.

Yeah, I guess U saw my reply about the "stairway to heaven".
Stairway openings are very good in Fischer's chess960 positions with neighbour bishops of type BBXXXXXX and XBBXXXXX as well as their symmetrical variants XXXXXBBX and XXXXXXBB.
i have just actually started playing fischer's chess960, with only three or four games so far. why 960 in the first place? is there something wrong with the regular chess that fischer, like his deviant self, had to create a new variant. fischer was one of the greatest chessplayers in history but i am not a fan of his antics. i think 960 is just a distraction to chess players, it takes away our focus. what do you think?

I study the opening theory in all 960 Fischer's positions. I discovered some general patterns, made terminology etc.

There are theoretical analogues of Ruy Lopez, Sicilian etc. in some Fischer's positions.

Many top players are very conservative in chess, they will not like asymmetrical Fischer!
