Non-League Speed Vote Games

In an effort to keep up on the League, I've been watching the list of new Vote Games getting started.  And since a couple teams have already withdrawn, and we don't know who's going to want to come back next season, I've decided to look at all the Speed Vote Games that have been played (since we started this) to see who else we might recruit into the league for next season.

Here are the games:

Knockout (move 3), Knockout (move 3), Knockout (move 3)

Submission (move 18)

timeout (move 29)

There's more, but that's as many links as it will let me fit into one post.  As I was compiling this, I saw a lot of very suspicious activity.  It looks like a few people are intentionally inflating their leaderboard points.  I really hope this doesn't cause Chess.com to discontinue the 10-min games!!

I'll have to finish this later.

What a hard job recruiting new groups!!! :)

I wonder if it wouldn't better to made some public announcements and wait for applications... then study which ones of the groups willing to enter will suit best.

(To have extended stats, doesn't guarantee you they will be willing to play in the league...)

Avatar of kokino

And By the way, those first three with the fool's mate where clearly pre.arranged... I don't know, but this might be called cheating! (there should be a rule preventing this... even banning the group for playing vote chess anymore, as happens with single players)

I am not going to report this... because it is not my business, but I wouldn't like to have them in the league anyway...

I'm going to enter two groups next time!!! Kairav's Chess Masters = KCM

and International Chess Masters = ICM :)

I agree.  Just cuz they've played some Speed Vote Games doesn't mean they're willing to play in the league.

We went with the Public Announcement route the first time around, and we will probably make a post in the general forums before Season 2 starts anyway, but I thought this might give us a general idea of who might be willing to replace the teams that have dropped out of this season (at least 2 so far, probably 3).  I figure if they're already playing 10-min games, they're more likely to join than a team that hasn't played any at that speed (of course Chess Nuts hadn't played any at that speed before this league, but they are mowing down the competition like they're old pros - so anything is possible).

Anyone who played in this season obviously has first dibbs on returning for next season, regardless of their record (example: Wizards of Oz are 0-3, but they haven't timed out of a single game).  Considering how many games timeout at this speed (and how anti-climactic it is for the game to end this way), I think that timeouts should be the most important factor in considering which teams will be best for the league (make for the most interesting games).

To be honest, I really don't expect a huge swell of teams trying to get into this league, and I still believe in a first-come-first-served system, but in the off-chance that we have more teams than we can handle, I think that the number of timouts should be considered, along with multiple teams entered by the same administrator.  Maybe we'll have a 5th division with only 3 wild card spots for the playoffs instead of 4 and 4.

Whatever the case is, I'm sure we'll figure it out.  I'm not worried.

As I said in the first post, there were more Speed Vote Games that have been played this season that I hadn't gotten to yet, but I couldn't post any more links in one post (I was recording my findings as I found them).  I was also incredibly surprised to see that nearly EVERY SINGLE GAME ended in a timeout (thus making all those games and records virtually meaningless).  So instead of continuing with my previous system, I have decided to post here only those Speed Vote Games that did NOT end in timeout (and were not deliberately thrown to inflate one teams leaderboard points - like the 3 fool's mates in one day - all won by the same team, and all lost by the super-admins OTHER teams).

So far, Chess Friends for Friends and Team Benelux de Leeuwen have officially withdrawn from the league.  The Best has removed all players from their team except the founder, so I expect them to withdraw soon as well.  Chess Empire and Chess Team Holland have timed out of all their games so far, so they may choose not to return next season, but they may still get it together too, so we'll see (3 of those 4 games lasted over 4 hours (one went almost 6, so they're trying)).

GeniusKJ has already said that he would like his International Chess Masters to have one of the vacant spots.  A couple other teams had originally entered into the league, but removed themselves before it started.  They may choose to try again next season.  We've still got a LONG time before we need to worry about the line-up for next season, so there's no real point in speculating yet, but I would still like to know how many REAL (non-timeout and non-fixed) Speed Vote Games were played this season that were not part of this league.

I'm going to go look at all the games now, and will post my findings when I'm done.

It looks like there have only been 2 games so far this season that were not a part of the league, not timeouts, and not the obvious result of cheating:

Chess Empire defeats Kairav's Chess Masters by submission (move 43)

Chess Maniacs defeat Chess Unlimited by submission (move 17)

It's good to see that Chess Empire CAN finish a game!!  Maybe they'll have better luck next season.

On the other hand, I've found 48 games that look like cheating:  Frown

Very suspicious indeed... though I'm sure most of those time-outs were legit.

congratulations to you all, my brothers all groups have been closed....

And you are surprised with that?

What is really surprising is that your group THE CHESS PLAYERS TEAM still keeps all Vote Chess Points LeaderBoard and is not closed too.

I am really sorry about your bro' but you have to admit that this was cheating and afortunately he still can play on this site. (other players for less have been removed)

LOL, and the Fool's Mate games are legit too, don't you think??

It's pretty common to time-out no matter what group you are playing. It's pretty hard to get caught in a fool's mate unless you're cheating.

You're right about timeouts being really common, especially in blitz games.  I saw a lot of games won and lost by a lot of groups that did not look like cheating.  What set these particular games apart was the fact that they were all won by 2 teams (People of Islam and Chess Players Team - both of which had Fqamariddinqamariddi  as an administrator or Super, and all of the losing teams had him as their only Super, and all the moves for the losing teams had only one vote.  So essentially, he was playing against himself.

As Komoliddin07 said, there were also many games that those 2 teams won by timeout against other well established teams (such as the Fast Players Group or Chess Unlimited).  Those appeared to be legitimate wins, and were not listed amongst the suspicious games.

To be honest, I was originally only suspicious of the 2 groups, not of any individual in particular.  However, someone else obviously did a little research of their own and called him out by name:

"u make me sick Fqamariddinqamariddi playing against ur own team to get easy vote chess wins "

"This can't be right. Something should be done to prevent this kind of nonsense."

"Iv just finished a vote chess game with 1 group and yes we won which i thought was fantastic, til i realised that that SA of the group i was in was also the SA for the other group.

Under the current ruling it is possible to play 1 group vs another group even if u r the SA for both but i feel that in this instance its so totally wrong."

"yes i am aware that u can only join one side of the vote chess bbut this person in particular challenged one team of his against another team which he is SA of and then deliberately lost the game so boosting up the stats for the group ni was a member of ... surely this isnt right??"

I am not suprised at all, it wasn't fair because the group which were played with are not closed but the ones had nothing to do with this has been closed....

This is truly unfortunate.   If your brother had built up other legitimate teams that were closed as a result of this, even tho they were never used as sacrifical lambs like the others were, I agree that they should not have been closed.  Just as I agree with you and Kokino that it is unfair that the Chess Players Team is still sitting at #3 on the leaderboard with 470 points, even tho many (but not all) of those points were gained thru illegitimate means.  I do not envy the difficult decisions that Erik and his staff need to make when things like this arise.  I am glad that they chose not to ban your brother from the site for his first offense, and I am sorry to see that he chose to leave anyway (or did he simply change his name?).

Regardless, I don't think it does any good to belabor these points any further.  Hopefully we will all be able to put this behind us now and get back to enjoying this wonderful site, and simply playing chess.

Chess Empire has won a game against KCM 1,5 weeks ago. That's our first win, hopefully we can still win something in FSVL :)
