Norfolk League

It’s been only a couple of weeks since the club stopped playing and I am missing the games already. The great thing about playing in a club is that you get to play with really nice people.
Matthew Perry is setting up the league and it looks like many of our usual opponents will be taking part. Aylesham, Wymondham, Lowestoft, Norfolk and Norwich, North Norfolk and others.

I expect we will play either Monday’s or Wednesdays and these will be 15 minutes and 10 seconds increment. The details are still being agreed.

If anyone else also want to be Admins or coordinators please let me know.
As we get more players joining up I will organise our club games.

I am sure it will be a lot of fun at a time when we all need a bit of cheering up.

p.s I am not very good at quick games.

Looks like the the online league will start up on the 13th April. In the meantime I will try and set up a club match so I can get used to how the admin works. Good to see a number of the Division ream members joining.

Home teams are listed on the left.  Matches to take place on home team’s chosen evening at 8pm unless agreed by both teams.  Matches can be rearranged to an alternative date but all fixtures must be complete by the end of June 2020.  If the World goes back to normal and real chess starts again then the completion date can be extended.

Please see the guide to sending a challenge.  Do not enter a minimum or maximum number of players leave this blank.  If teams have less than 4 players they will default on those boards.  More than 4 boards is fine, all boards count towards the match.  If your team has more players than your opponent- they won’t get a game but they could play a friendly with other team mates.  It might be worth advising the other team before the match how many players you are expecting.

I've heard that Broadland are playing St Johns tonight.  How do I follow that match?

Hi All. A number of clubs have the similar problem of turning up for matches and having too many players. We had this a few times and as a result several lower graded players are missing out on having a turn. I obviously want the club to win so will always try and encourage our A team players to participate especially when some of the other clubs are so strong. To try and help with this I will try and set additional matches up so more people can play and I will aim to invite players directly as we would OTB once I have a confirmed number of opposition players. Hopefully this will spread the opportunity to play more fairly. If I don’t invite you please don’t get up set it’s just me trying to give others a chance to play. I hope it works out ok
