execute @e[type=snowball] ~ ~ ~ summon lightning_bolt ~ ~ ~
The above command, when pasted into a command block that is set to repeat and no redstone will when you throw a snowball, summon lightning wherever the snowball is so you can smite mobs with snowballs.
