why is "4th" in red

4th = Red

3rd = Bronze

2nd - Silver

1st - Gold

why not a color that isn't a player color?

If you want that, then I think we can lay it out like this:

1st is Gold, 2nd is Silver, 3rd is Bronze, 4th is Black. Black is a color, rather than a shiny metal.

Well Black for me is a shade (not a color), but how about this:

quick question, how did the yellow bishop promote on the 10th rank?

Yellow moved the bishop from the twelfth rank
