Opening Tier List!

For some reason, I decided to create my own tier list of the most popular openings in Chess. I will not only judge on how effective it is, I'll also judge its difficulty, counter strategies and a few other things. Let me know what you think in the comments! Note: I researched some of these openings and I don't have as much experience with them so let me know if you disagree.

The bongcloud opening should be at the top.

I have a 100 percent win rate with the bonglcloud in rated games. This proves the tier list to not be correct.

I am only going into some details, but I can see some GothamChess influence, which is not a problem btw. However we must take into consideration that certain openings, don't work at and above a certain level. I will present my point of view, as an 1800 FIDE rated and 2000+ chesscom rapid rated player.

The Vienna Gambit is literally better for black. It belongs to: mostly tricks. The Rosseau Gambit is similar, except, it is completely lost for black. On the other hand, Queen's Indian is the most played variation after 3. Nf3. It is correct and solid, I tried it myself with success.

The modern and the Pirc are almost the same, and so are Italian and Giocco Piano.
The part I fail to understand is Ruy in alright. It is the best e4-e5 opening, tied with the Giocco.

One last thing is Makogonov. In my opinion, it works amazingly, if you know the correct variations with white. Also white has the best scores in that sideline.

The other things I mostly agree with. Can you maybe give a link to the empty tiermaker template?

Wow! You know lots about openings! Here's the link to the template. https://tiermaker.com/create/chess-openings-15693417

Ok This is cool but lots if these i would disagree with.

For example Fried Liver in the Stupid! Mostly Tricks is totally not correct.

Hikaru Nakamura used it against Fabiano Caruana in Norway Chess 2023 and dominated with the white pieces gaining him first place.

Just because mostly amateurs play it doesn't mean it isn't good. It is a great opening and i don't know a single line where black is better. Unless it is some dumb crazy line.

There are others to point out, but it doesn't matter.

Why London system Just No... GothamChess says that it is one of the best openings.

Grob is better than London?

Grob is better than London? WHAAT?

When I say "Just no" I mean PLEASE DON'T PLAY THIS! Not because it's bad because it's annoying!

According to analysis, the intercontinental ballistic missile gambit is actually really good for White

For me, I found a way to counter it and while it's not good for me positionally, I'm up 2 pawns.

Also, The King's Gambit is an okay opening, I wouldn't say it's mostly tricks

There's a gambit where White sacrifices a knight for massive positional advantages.

Fried Liver?

Not that.

HungryOval

Haloween gambit?

MichaelGermishuizenF5

The London is for players who don't like to lose. That's what makes it annoying to face. But it is absolutely not that dangerous.

The Sicilian on the other hand both players walk a tightrope
