The donkey/jackass symbol was first used in a cartoon, intended to depict the Democrats as stupid. They kept the symbol, preferring to view the animal as hardworking and dependable. The elephant also came from a cartoon, but it's not clear why the Republicans adopted it rather than the other animals in the cartoon.
Pets you keep

Well, I guess the elephant and the donkey just show Americans' sportsman-jolly character!
Our early political parties, borne of the Spanish revolution, history describes one of them was devious, selfish, ruthless. The other never had revenge. Maybe you could google Tenejeros Convention.
What animal? Maybe a tasmanian devil? I hear their unborn babies murder each other in the womb.
Back to animals, are wolves/coyotes still threat to domestic animals in the temperate zone?

I will check out today Tenejeros today and get back to you on that. All I remeber about tasmanian devils is the warner bros. cartoons, but they sure would possibly be a candidate for a political party. This is one of the reasons we have dogs to keep the wolves away, however it is a living creature that would need to eat as well. I get a kick out of some ranchers out west who have thousands of animals and get in an uproar about losing a few animals to wolves I say get over it. In any business there are loses

Haha! I meant geographically. Vermont - I have been there back in the 80s. Bought apple juice from a roadside stall.

Absolutely, there is so much wildlife here,it never fails to see something on a daily basis, moose, deer wolves,turkeys,eagles,etc...

Mostly black bears,no they usually avoid you, however if the sow has cubs then its better for you to leave, other wise the mother will come after you.

Well, bears and wolves, big creatures, those. My problem is much smaller, but big! Rats the size of cats! Can't use poison, cats and dogs might eat them; can't use traps, they're too smart. And they always know which bin you put the trash in.
I'm thinking of getting a new air rifle. What you think, my friends?

Ok Bokek,an air rifle is a good idea,a terrier dog which would go after rats are better. Or they have these glue traps up here which work pretty well.

Yep, a good little terrier would enjoy the work. I used to have a breed called a Jack Russell. Bred for going down rabbit holes but loved a rat-kill.

We used to have a 20-pounder dog, I point out a rat, then just have to wait. In less than 15 mins he would come and display the kill, bloody and all. He killed birds and puppies; literally chased 70-lb dogs to their homes, to their pens!
Ferocious, he bit me, Mom, househelp, my Aunt, my cousin. A rabbit and giant cock escaped him by returning to their cages. The only animal he couldn't lick was a snake, which bit his face. Well, because he was so ferocious, we had to give him away. Our devil dog.
The cheapest Jack Russell pup is listed for 200 dollars US, quite high for me, And the seller is more than a hundred miles away. Maybe I'll keep my eye out for a milder devil dog? Or try to sweet talk that lady into giving the best price on a local airgun.
As for cats, they're so vulnerable, we lost two in as many years

If them rats are that big I would go with the dog, money well spent to keep the nasty creatures away. That is one creature I will not tolerate, too many diseases to be spread.

So Bokek, what was the point of the tenejeros convention? Nobody got to vote and they just made themselves president and vp. And disregarded the laws that were already in place?

Yep, in Tenejeros there was the classic hometown abracadabra, Chief. History says the Leader of the cheated group was later murdered together with his brother; his wife was raped. I wonder if the guilty ones ever repented. Or if they even considered the oppressed group as brothers. Vicious creatures, even more than my devil dog.
The cheap CO2 rifle costs less than the cheapest Jack Russell puppy; maybe I could wait around for a sprightly mongrel puppy
I think your right about Google,it is a lot easier than going to the library all the time for info but I much prefer getting opinions from people it means more to me and I get to hear other opinions other than my own I call that an education. Ah yes jackass it is derogatory but that is the point,it is no more nasty then there policies. I dont rightly know about your fish but I do know that quite a few fresh water guys live quite a few years by the example of fish that are caught. So you have had political parties murder each other? Pray tell what you would call them?
