I think so. 

Roaches used to feast on a sore of my weak dog. I took this attack personally and studied them. Went at them with oregano water, hunted them with bug spray, absolutely sullied my slippers swatting at them. Hunt inside cupboards, under tables, sinks, roof edges. 3x in daylight and 5x at night. 3 days' labor gave me 3weeks of peace.

We used to have a guy who sprayed every six months for years. He used a mixture of herbs, and lemon oil that was non toxic to humans. It worked great! I never saw a single roach. When the apartment managers found out it wasn't deadly poison, they got some De con guy, who convinced them it was bogus, since it wasn't deadly poison to humans. Now roaches are everywhere. They need to bring the other guy back, since it killed them quickly, and kept them gone.

Yea conflagration sounds like even the manager needs to be replaced,maybe use some of the de con on him as well. But seriously natural is the way to go.

On a serious note, more than 250 have died in landslides/flashfloods in our southern islands. A kind thought for them would be nice. Would that roaches instead of people were taken

Regarding cockroaches, I wondered what role they play in the planets ecosystem, so I did a little research. It seems that they a) are an important food for many insects, lizards and birds, and b) eat decomposing matter (eg rotting food) and so clean up. Opinion is divided as to whether they spread infection.

I don't rotting food, or any other food laying around, so I don't need to clean up.

Me neither. I guess it includes all sorts of rotting matter eg dead birds, etc. I'm not saying I like cockroaches, just wondered where they fitted in.

Definetly everything has a purpose no matter how disgusting we think they are. Example: Here we have had a serious decline of bats I noticed a rise in insects be it mosquitos or flies. An extremely balanced planet and ecosystem! Now where do you think we fit in?

Storms kill roaches too, right?

But they say roaches, rats, pests will reclaim the earth. I wonder how they will remember the late great proud species which called itself, "man"

These pesky insects have been here and will probably be here for a while. As for the demise of man I disagree that he will be eliminated altogether,he is an adaptable creature as well. So Bokek a new cat?

There was a cat which wandered in our lot undetected by the dog, Chief. Maybe the temptation of rats was too strong. I just might put my trap construction on hold.

I am sorry Bokek looks like you will have to deal with them yourself,relying on fictious person wont work. I wonder how we got from talking about pets to pests? There will be a punishment involved for the person who got us off course. I am thinking 50 lashes with a wet noodle administered by a young lady in a french bikini. Boy that ought to teach them! I wonder how many will line up now to take the punisment!

Steering somewhat back to pets, can a reindeer be a pet? And is it a deer, a moose or an elk? Or are those three all the same? Pardon Oriental curiosity

Yea you can choose the noodle length.Reindeer or here they are called caribou. Same creature though a member of the deer family I dont think I would want one as a pet. Interesting though the females can have horns where most deer females or does do not have the horns. Not a great animal to domesticate.
