I think it would be a good idea to post pieces and rules.

If the pieces & rules are not described, they get declined.

I wish there was something like this.

Good idea but its likely that they will only add new pieces if its for a historical or popular variant

then add shogi pieces, xiangqi pieces, janggi pieces, and Chess-80 because the elephant derives from another historical variant

Its not likely they will add shogi, xiangqi and janggi pieces, its for 2 reasons: 1: shogi, xiangqi and janggi are too original to be considered variants, and they got created before standard chess, 2: to add these new pieces they would also have to add their variants, but the problem is that they would have to add crazyhouse demotion and custom promotion for shogi, material counting for janggi, and pieces mobility restriction for janggi and Xiangqi, about the elephant from chess80: they will only add it if chess80 is a historical or popular variant

@DanielRensch has said in an AMA that variants like shogi won’t be added; I don’t agree with the decision, but I guess it’s not something he sees as a priority anytime soon

Well, theres grant acedrex which is a historical variant (around 800 years old), and it would only require 2 new rules: promotion: on grant acedrex pawns promote to the pieces that were originally there: example: a pawn promotes to rook on the A file and to bishop (technically called “crocodile” on grant acedrex) on the E file, the second other rule that this variant requires is the king leap (kings can move and capture like a Alibaba on their first move), new the pieces that this variant have is

Lion: a Camel that also can jump 3 squares directly horizontally or vertically

Giraffe: a 3,2 Leaper

Aanca/Gryphon: moves one square diagonally and then like a rook on that same direction, also can move directly one square diagonally

Unicorn/Unicornio: moves like a knight and then a bishop on that same direction

This variant would also require a option to make bishops look like crocodiles
