The Seirawan's Revenge (is that good)?
Please suggest a name for this variant based on a Seirawan Custom position
The Seirawan's Revenge (is that good)?
I wouldn't put Seirawan in its name, I want to emphasize that it's, like, a new game
1. Custom Position Workshop is a better place to post this.
2. Suggestion: Seirwan Villagers
Where can I find the Custom Position Workshop?
@jackityjackjack how can we set up so we test the game? I'm in the "4 Player & Variants" section and I'm playing the game in the next few minutes / hours depending on what happens in my life, if you go there maybe you can see my game and join! Sorry but I'm not really sure how it all works
I can play nearly any time today, except around 11:00-13:00. (UTC-7) I'll send you a friend request, and when I get online, you can challenge me, I'll be under the list of players. Or just pull up your variant in the custom slot, and paste my name into the opponent bar, and click play.
ok
ElepHawkRevenge
And I wanna test it with you say tmrw 7:00pm maybe I might not be free but when I am I'll challenge you
Hey guys, I think you would appreciate this game against @jackityjackjack.
I think we both played well until a point where I started making big mistakes:

@JkCheeseChess, thank you for let me keeping this!
I was thinking of some unusual name, like something that evokes the little-ness of the pieces involved, and maybe with am unusual synonym for battle.
what about material points of every pieces? I think dabbaba is about 1.5 material points, king and knight is about 3 points(king move very slow, can't attack in middle game), rook is about 4 in middle game or openning, and is about 7 in end game, bishop is about 5 points(bishop can easily force king(soldier) move and take piece),xiangqi horse is about 2 points, General is about 6 points, and other is 1 points (alfil can easily been trapped, ferz move too slow)
Usually in my opening I make a choice of either ferz to c2 or ferz to e2 and place a bishop in its place, in order to attack the enemy general. But I don't know whether it's actually useful against a competent opponent. But in my openings I feel like I don't really know what I'm doing.
In my opinion, the ferz is worth between 1 and 2 pawns.
I think the alfil might be between 0 and 2 pawns depending on the situation. I think managing to exchange the alfil for another piece in the opening can give you an edge. Also, the alfil on the same color as your soldier can check the enemy soldier after its first move.
I think the dabbaba and the wazir are worth less than a pawn, but maybe it's just that I can't use them well.
I would say:
Wazir < dabbaba < pawn < alfil < ferz < ziangqi horse < king < knight < rook < bishop

This was played without Diplomacy. Very extensive endgame*
* The last game got me thinking. Was it really an endgame with all that material on the board? I think yes, because with a royal piece that is so weak, I think we can call that an endgame. Or maybe this game will end up being recognized as having more than three phases.
I think I'm on to something. This variant feels like its own game, different than chess, xiangqi, etc.
You start the game with weaker pieces on the board. I think they make for very tactical positions.
You can drop a limited number of pieces with Seirawan setup. In my opinion, this variant feels more like a war than a battle.
The opening can be somewhat slow -- here there wasn't a capture until next move (white's 14th move):
But you can't relax too much in the opening. You have to be careful at every stage of the game. Here Black allowed a brutal attack from White:
The following is from an endgame. I think White can checkmate in two.
I come here to ask for a name suggestion! Also this is the list of the rules:
* I'll change it to stalemated player loses for further games.
** As this game looks really deep to me, a longer time might be used in further games
So, can you help come up with a name for this game?
