In the following game white has just played Bd6 and black responded with Re8. What is the next (and the very thematic) move for white here?

Be5

Checks: none

Captures

...Bxd4 loses material, not a threat

Pressure

...b6: after bxc or cxb opens diagonal for the d7 bishop

...e5: after exd or dxe opens another diagonal the d7 bishop

Space: white with control of d6 and e5

advantage white

Development:

both sides have casted and developed all minor pieces

equal

Quality of pieces

both sides have one centralized rook on a close file and one undeveloped rook

white has central knight and bishop on an outpost

black has one tall pawn and a fiachetto bishop with blocked diagonal

white has advantage

Material: equal

Tactics:

21.Be5 wants ...Bxe5 22.dxe5: blocks the e6 pawn and prevents further development of black light square bishop. Increases white piece quality advantage and reduces black piece quality.

Morris_W3

yes Be5 wants...Bxe5 discovered attack on white square bishop and knight fork at f6.

Oh, I didn't see the knight fork at Nf6. Very nice. But, even if black sees and avoids it we still have the outpost.
