The main problem with these suggestions is:
a) Variants simply don't have the popularity to afford to not let players play games, and
b) Chess.com simply doesn't care enough about variants enough to implement any QoL.
c) In the end, arenas come down to whoever can spend more time on it. It's usually between few contenders (*cough @wizardrunner and @gardent490) who can afford to spend the time. If you're really keen on winning the rank, I'd recommend you take a few hours out of your schedule. It isn't how it should be, but as things stand, that's the best way to win. Especially if you believe you have greater skill than those dominating the leaderboard, because streaks matter. If you can break their streak, they will gain less points.
d) Arenas aren't catered towards new players: it's either to allow a variant to gain popularity or allow experienced players to try their hand at using their skill for a possibly monetary benefit. Most new players will likely (unfortunately) leave the tournament after losing one game, but hopefully some will go on to play the variant later.
Honestly, this is a valid suggestion and one I am sure would be smart to implement only if we had more players playing in the arenas, which will only happen if it gains more advertising, which will only happen if chess.com cares enough about variants to make it happen
Well, there are Prize tournaments in Chess Variants on Chess.com, where you can get am Membership-Prize e.g. Platinum or Emerald Variant. As you play in these, you often play against 1800-2000 rated Elo players who have 200IQ strategies to win. But honestly, it isnt a BIG problem. The BIG problem is, because they are good, they can farm a LOT of wins on new Players, which means that if you even are good though, (1600~) you haven't a chance to win against them and the new players are often scared of the tournaments because of often unfriendly and too good players. So the tournaments are kinda only made for them, not for normal 4PC players. That is sad and can constantly remove the fun of playing different variants and etc. because the Variants Community isn't doing anything against that at all, ’cause technically, it isn't cheating at all, it is just better tactics and that stuff’ but we all know what is going on.
BUT: I'm not only complaining, I have an idea which could the tournaments alive and fair to all rating rangers again. Well, the simplicity is the enemy of complexity. The Variant community can just add rating ranges. 100-500, 500-100, 1000-1500, 2000-2500, 2500-3000 and 3000-3500. It isn't about doing differnt Tournaments, it is about adding a barrier, if a 1200 elo player wants to play in a tournament, but there is an 1800 Elo rated one, then he should wait until another rating-ranged player appears. Next point is, to do little adverting of Variants and Prize tournaments. I guess, at least 2500 people here don't know that something like that even existed. It can be simple reminders in that club or creating forums in the outside.
I really hope, that someone who can change things or who could give this letter to an 4PC Variant worker would respond or help me. This isn't bait to get Views or I don't know what, it is a real problem.
P.s. if you have any Ideas then write it here too.
Thanks for reading and hopefully responding and sorry that I did it so long. MossStoneIM
