Bald Eagle
The Bald Eagle was once an endangered species, Bald eagles were declared endangered primarily due to widespread poisoning from the pesticide DDT, which caused thin eggshells and reproductive failure, alongside habitat loss and illegal shooting. Their population plummeted to under 500 nesting pairs by the 1960s, but they have since recovered significantly by strict protections under the Endangered Species Act, and active nest protection, leading to their delisting in 2007. primarily due to DDT pesticide poisoning, which caused thin eggshells and nesting failure, alongside habitat loss and illegal shooting, dropping to around 400 breeding pairs by the 1960s. But they recovered.
