Quantum Chess

I have an idea for a new gamerule called Quantum Chess. It would only involve the king (or other royal piece). When the king first moves instead of him actually moving, a marker of some kind would be placed on the intended square. This shows the King COULD be there. This continues until the king decides to capture a piece. When this happens, all markers are removed and the king moves to the spot the captured piece previously occupied. The king could take from any marker. If a marker is put in check, the player may defend the spot normally or simply remove the marker, essentially saying the king was never there in the first place. Thoughts?
