Surely there's a reason that we now how both reaction emotes:

and up/down votes:

What is the practical relevance/difference of each of these?

Is one or the other (or neither!) getting more staff eyeballs on the bugs reports, suggestions, etc.?

Does it get reports/suggestions bumped up in the line?

What does each one of these actually DO?

Hmm... idk But both react to a post

Upvoting increases Relevance. You can filter Comments and Forum posts by Relevance now.

is just a reaction. One of many emojis. It doesn't increase Relevance.

You are right. It is not implemented yet, but staff and moderators will pay attention to most upvoted suggestions and moderate most downvoted comments/posts.

Yeah, we don't need both. Seriously?

Upvote/down or does something completely different than reactions.

Yeah, I know mods will use them for helpful comments. However, who agrees with me that the usage of both features is ominous?

As long as there isn't an automated response, I don't think there's any reason to think it's ominous.
