Bxf4 is a common theme in most kings gambit because e5 or Ne5 or even Be5 are often very powerful moves
In addition in the double muzio it sets up the f file for the attack.
In the 9...Qxd4 variation Be3 needs to be interposed. After Q anywhere but xe3 Bxf4 follows. If xe3 Axe3 and black can safely resign
