Rating Question

Yes. USCF hosts games I think daily at different time controls. Look on chess.com on how to link your USCF membership to chess.com, once done you can enter USCF rated tournaments. Note that these will not impact your OTB rating, USCF has separate ratings for Online Regular/Rapid and Blitz. If you look on the USCF site you will also find other clubs hosting online events as well (some free, some paid).

Here's the link with instruction on how to link USCF to Chess.com, it's fairly easy.
How to Link USCF Membership to Chess.comOne thing I forgot to mention, some USCF online events have ratings caps. e.g. U1450, these will be based on your online USCF rating, not what is shown in Chess.com. So if you are outside the rating cap you won't be able to enter.

Good information, but if you're in this club your account is already linked.
With that said, I can send you links to those other clubs if interested, just DM me. They usually have smaller events than this club, but fun nonetheless.

how do you gain USCF rating
Play official USCF tournaments and win games
You get a USCF rating by losing all your games too. I don't recommend it.

oh right. I've had a rating for so long that I forgot. I know FIDE won't give you one until you get 5 points which I'm still working on.

That's also not true. You need to accumulate 5 FIDE rated games against opponents with a published FIDE rating within 26 months. Your aggregate performance (using FIDE's way of calculating) must be greater than 1000. For most people, any nonzero score is sufficient.

I was told after playing my first FIDE tournament a month ago I needed to score 5 games against people with a FIDE rating. That's my fault for not actually looking it up myself after applying for an ID, but good to know. Thank you.
My USCF rating is currently 678. It has been like that for about 2 months. I have done lots of USCF rated games the past few months. Does anyone know when my rating will change?
