Red Army League Rules

I thought I'd just outline the rules/system to clear up any confusion:

Format:

(Currently) 2 Leagues of 7 Players

2 Relegated, 2 Promoted

If a player has to miss a season due to vacation etc. they can return to the same division next season.

If a player has to indefinitely leave they will have to start again in the bottom division.

Each season will last exactly 2 months, with season 2 starting on June 1st 2014, Season 3 on August 1st etc.

Unfinished games are counted as 0-0, so any player who takes too long will be relegated by virtue of not finishing their games. The league table will be frozen as it at 5pm on the last day of the month, e.g. 31st May, so invites can be sent out etc.

If there is a tie for promotion (and tiebreak), the two players will have a play-off game or both be promoted if there is a space.

Any more queries please ask below so I can add them to the list above! Thanks

Just a note about the tie-breaks; perhaps the accepted chess tie-break systems could be employed... these are available on Chess.com and can be built into the tournament format before start.

I am not partial to play-offs because they may considerably lengthen the season.

They are:

1. Direct Encounter

2. Sonneborn-Berger

3. The Koya System

4. Number of games won.

What do you think?

Yes, I use the tie-break system on chess.com. That should be enough to separate everyone
