Red Army vs. We Chat Global results

Experts make mistakes as well:

--Black moved his Knight multiple times in the opening -- starting with 4...Nh5?!. The attack on the Bishop does not inconvenience White in any way -- he just moves the Bishop away and the Knight has to go back to where it came. Three moves by one piece.

--Five times, Black passes up the opportunity to castle, which cost him the game. Tactics of the sort that emerald2000 used in this game are never possible when the other side castles. But Black had better things to do than castle. His 13...c5?! was a mistake because it opened the position when behind in development and after 14...cxd4, Black must lose at least a pawn.

Well played emerald. Excellent job taking advantage of the uncastled king.

Nosoypetrosian gratuitously fails to castle in this game as well and pays the price. First of all, he tries 1. b4, to get Black out of book -- but getting people out of book is not a subsitute for sound fundamental chess play. Some moves are book for a reason. Some moves are not book for a reason. If this is the best that White can do against Black's setup, then 1. b4 is in need of a major rethink.

Emerald (Red Army) correctly judged that his attack would be worth more than the exchange that White grabs and does not let him escape punishment. Crime and punishment are alive and well on the chessboard.
