I haven't had much experience with this, but I think it's not that bad. As you said, it's just blindfold but you can see where all the pieces are. But the good part is: It's blindfold but you can see where all the pieces are. You now don't need to click every single square just to find out where your pieces and your opponent's pieces are. However, I think this should be called "Hidden Identity" instead of "Checky Chess"

Not really, Ahab chess is about disguising a royal. This is about not knowing which pieces are which. Similar in a way, but different focus.

You're right, this isn't checkers. This is chess, but we lost the chess pieces, so we're using checkers pieces instead.
