I was researching UCO Gambits in response to the Orangutang (1.b4) and found the Wolferts Gambit. Its a fun gambit and I plan to use it in my blitz games very soon. There were only two games in the Chess.com database and here is one:
After studying this gambit I immediately liked the fact that Black did nothing about the pawn en prise. This reminded me of the Mousetrap Gambit except the Mousetrap had one other aspect. The trapping of the Bishop with d4. As follows:
This made we wonder if there was a way to use this in reverse for Black against 1.b4. This is what I came up with:
I'm going to run some analysis on the computer with this line and see what comes up. My initial analysis looks decent. I like like lines like this in Blitz because it really throws off the opponent and they panic a bit when their Bishop gets trapped. What do you guys think? Does this line have any merit?
Oh yeah... its not really a trap. The idea is that the pawn is the cheese and the mouse comes out of its hole (b2), when it eats the cheese the pawn push keeps it out of its hole. So youre right.. I shoulda worded it different. What do you think about the line?
