Road to 2000

Can someone give me advice on how to reach 2000 in rapid? My rating fluctuates between 1950 and 1850, and my peak rating was 1969. My biggest problem is time pressure. When I’m in a complicated position, I calculate a lot, and in many cases, I can’t finish my attack. My opponent often starts counterattacking, and I don’t have enough time to defend. Alternatively, I may finish my attack and reach a winning position, but then I run out of time to checkmate my opponent.

Can someone advise me on how to fix this?

Have you considered playing on increment?

Also, as I explained in my Truth Hurts: PSA, viewing your attempts as a "Road to X ELO" is really counterproductive because it doesn't give you a realistic view or mindset for how your progress will happen.

Just get on the grind and study hard

one game a day. Study endgames. Get repeatable positions. Don't focus on winning the game focus on making good moves in a timely manner. Some times it helps to have the mindset that your opponent is the one that has to beat you. So don't make it easy for them to beat you. Not blundering and playing logical moves, but again with the mindset of not losing. Save the perfect moves for classical chess ,or studying.

just adjust your time control. if you lose on time with 10 min, then play 15 min with 10 sec increment at least.

Try to learn the pawn structure of your opening. There it will guide you how to attack and an idea on where to place your pieces. And after that, the rest is up to your endgame knowledge. I once played with this 2234 rated player in rapid and I was able to execute my plans (pawn structures also helps you in making plans like pawn breaks, etc.) tho not accurately but it's better to have a purpose on your moves. At the end, I lost to that match because I lost on time but my position is winning I just need 3 moves ahead to mate that player forcedly. Good luck!!

Btw, sorry I'm still not used to English I hope u understand. If you guys need help from me, feel free to dm me here in chess.com I may not be that great but I would willing to share my knowledge in chess for lower rated.
