aaah... i see.  i did not appreciate the abusive chats i received afterwards as a consequence of your speech though.  in addition to the time forfeit which i felt unsporting.  and i thought you were referring to gumersindo and me too which i thought was ridiculous, and i still feel it was those losses the real reason for your lack of qualification so far.  hence my needling of you here a bit.  i am sorry for some of that.  the principal reason for playing you is b/c i had played yoony so i felt i owed him to give u a game.  there were bonus reasons as mentioned.  plus i felt u were less screwed than some other players, myself included although i am qualifed now.  hence my behavior here.

ok glad we cleared that up...   gl on future tries.  i was not too happy about playing in a few extra qualifiers than i may have had to too... had things worked out differently and the obvious cheaters been dealt with more swiftly or even if basic IP checks had been completed or my queries had been addressed in a prompt manner.

Also if they put a name for a winner, is it final or do they still have to complete cheater checks? Because I am VERY suspicious of a one player who got the qualifying spot over me...

From what I can see, there is completely no contact with organisers (whoever they are)... - no answers to simple questions, no solutions to kevin's case, no solution to wrong pairings...

The runner-up in that tournament has been banned.  I was tied with the same score as said user in that qualifier (with 4/5 with only to a loss to that banned player) does that mean I qualify via that qualifer (as the 3rd place finisher as top 2 banned) or via the qualifer that I won later (today at 6 AM EST).  User 1709314 finished second in the qualifer I won outright so I believe that he would be qualified - I know for sure that I am qualified as I won a qualifier outright but I'm sure a clarification would be welcome for a few of the affected players so they know whether or not they are qualified... and if the list had been updated and had known that I would have been qualified I would not have had to go through the qualification process a few further times affecting the chances in those qualifiers I played after as I know several legitimate players would be affected by my games with them (obviously penguingm was particularly understandably vocally frustrated).  I enjoyed the chess, but those are several hours that we do not get back when we have to go thru the qualification process again to ensure that we qualify.  

I totally anticipated these issues coming btw so I was less frustrated by these things beyond my control, yeah i had to suffer the cheats, report them and move on and fortunately my class of play was high enough to eventually win a qualifier although this cost me some sleep.

Hey guys, kevin9512 will qualify along with kynas who was runner-up to that tournament because 3rd place for the tournament in which both luis_garcia and rahul7918 were banned is Petrosianic who has already qualified.

I hope that's a reasonable decision.

londonsystem22, all the winners are checked for cheating before they are invited to the next round, but if you have any suspicions you should message me about it and I will check further for you.

I withdrew cuz once again I had school today

different pool of players in different qualifiers. the best legit in each pool makes perfect sense.  although it sucks that 4.5/5 was not enough to decide a clear first.  tiebreaks have decided a few groups but when looking for one winner in each qualifier... which sucks... but if you do not want to do a playoff... that's the way to go.  and 5/5 should always be good enough.

I think tiebreaks gets a bit unfair when a lot of players withdraw as soon as they lose one game. In the last tournament 28 players started the tournament and at the end there were 7 players left.

i thought Procion was the winner of the group just played bc he beat penguingm2 in their individual game and ended with the same score.  just saying this b/c my tiebreaks were superior to rahul and he had qualified and I did not when luis was banned yet rahul obtained the spot I suppose b/c he beat me --- I recall for sure my tiebreaks were better.  so i had to play 3 additional qualifiers to qualify as a result.  i do not understand the inconsistency in tiebreaks policy.  Also I thought the tiebreak selection here may be inconsistent with the policy used when GACG and a few others qualified, but I do not recall exactly how those groups worked out.  Maybe I am remembering wrong, IDK.  Please clarify, thanks!

EDIT:  Now that I think of it I recall that gumersindo beat GACG in the final round but GACG qualified anyway, I do not remember if they had the same score or if it were someone else.  Anyway I thought it was weird that rahul was initially runner-up in the group that luis won if my tiebreaks were better although that is immaterial now as I am qualified.

Bummer for Procion not to qualify after a terrific fight and win against an IM with Black but congrats to penguingm for finally qualifying.

Wow, lots going on here. Let me try to address everything quickly:

First, Petro and penguin -- I really don't wanna see a converstion like that in a public forum again. You both deserve warnings for losing your temper.

penguin - if you accuse players of cheating in public chat (live chess or otherwise) instead of trusting or going through the proper channels (ie, message Monitor) you are going to get your account muted.

Kevin - your issue was a mistake in our server. For everyone else, don't logout of the tournament until trophies are given until we fix the bug! You have been invited to Round 3 I believe.

For those complaining about the tie-breaks, I'm sorry. But even in real tournaments tie-breaks (if your opponent withdraws) work that way. Honestly, I lost out on a first place in Junior High nationals as a kid because after I beat the top seed, he withdrew two rounds later. It happens. Sorry. There is NO perfect tie-breaks system. It doesn't exist.

The question of whether we will let players move onto the next round if we find out for sure that someone who qualified cheated, and they were the next in line by score and tiebreaks is yes. We WILL do that.

Why does the tournament on Oct 26, 11am admitted two players rather than the usual one?

But why admitting two players from that particular tournament? Did they both score 100% or what?
