All: Rules, Guidance and Suggestions

Hear ye, hear ye. These are the rules ye shall play by.

1. No swearing. No hexing. No voodoo. No hoodoo. No bad juju. What's the point? Save it for other venues where the moderators don't care. But we won't be absolute prigs about this. Just keep a rein on it.

2. No harassment.

3. Please do not submit negative reviews of blogs or bloggers. Why not here? It is probably more useful to communicate directly with that blogger or respond on the blog page you did not enjoy. Besides, I can't figure out a way to allow that without stepping on a slippery slope to Limbo. Not the dance. The place between heaven and hell. You might note that there is a locked forum addressed to the topic of negative reviews, All: Bad Blogs/Bloggers, but it does not allow posts as I found no ultimate purpose in such a site. Why increase traffic to their posts by listing bad blogs and bloggers you don't like?

4. Please do not plug/advertise in the Notes. Why not? Because there are several forums designated for plugging and we can add more such forums if it seems useful and/or necessary.

5. Forums. Only club staff can create new forums. Suggestions to create new forums on specific topics will certainly be considered and can be posted here. Staff will irregularly delete forums that that appear to have exceeded their useful existence. But we will attempt to check with members before deleting a forum.
Why not allow everyone to create forums? Bottom line is that I'd like to limit the number of forums as all too often one finds clubs that have multiple forums that should have all been collected under one topic. Or individual forums that have not seen a post in months or even years and whose value appears limited. Bottom line is that I see little value in hosting hundreds of forums. The web is wide enough as it is without adding to the sprawl.
