This forum is designed solely for plugging blogs. We will, probably with little to no regret and perhaps some relish, delete posts that are irrelevant to the plugging of blogs. As a suggestion to draw more attention to your blog, I would suggest adding a small picture (less than 200x200 is more than sufficient in my experience) and possibly a sentence or two that sketches out the topic of your blog. Sometimes the title of the blog is more than sufficient, so that extra description is unnecessary. Staff retain the right to delete any material that could be deemed offensive...or that actually is offensive. If you have joined this club, offensive posts are one aspect of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution that you waived with respect to this club's private operations. What you do elsewhere? That's on you. Regards,Kevin

A prime reason for the existence of this club is to recognize and promote bloggers so that readers will be able to find some of the best posts out there. My research has indicated a significant uptick in views after an award is announced. I am assuming that announcements in additional locations will generate additional traffic. To that end, and given the information is available, we will extol those who earned awards from other blogging clubs. And provide links to the individual blogs that won the awards. To ensure the awards announcements have top billing we will keep this forum locked except for the posting of results. Those who wish to add awards that are not included here can put a request for that at Requests. Thanks for doing so!

As a suggestion, I would suggest posting more than just a link to the club. A thumbnail (around 300x300 works fine based on some experimentation) and a one or two sentence description of the club will both make your ad stand out and offer some insight into the nature of the club. Of course, if done poorly that extra detail will cast a pall on your ad. So it goes (Kurt Vonnegut). Per this clubs terms of agreement, we will delete ads that are deemed problematic by the anonymous "they". Though I am never sure who "they" are, it seems they are everywhere.

These are the clubs I found on 31 March 2024 that had "blog" in their name. This will be updated randomly throughout the years. A safe place to hash out discussions on the art, science, philosophy, life choices and all other topics surrounding chess.

A bit different than requests. Or simply a different way to obtain requests. It may just be a matter of terminology. But it feels different, so here it is. Let us know what you like and dislike. And while you're doing that you can offer a suggestion for how to change if you're so inclined. Certainly would not expect you to sound off here and then make a request for change in the Requests Forum All: Please post requests to club staff here. All that clicking gets old after a while. Only seems right that everyone should be able to make requests. Staff will respond with a yea or nay. But responses will rarely be automatic given the constraints of time, circumstances and possible need for further discussion before rendering judgment.Below the picture you will find a number of items that are not currently on the agenda. Some limited restrictions/some events not currently undertaken: New forums - A request will have to be submitted and approved before we add forums. I find clubs with tens to hundreds of forums might as well not have forums as you can never find what you want. Or it is repeated with slightly different titles. Frustrating. Chess Matches/Tournaments - The primary purpose of this club is to support bloggers and blog readers who also happen to enjoy chess. I felt most folks probably already received numerous requests daily to play chess for one of their clubs. So, I wanted to avoid the extra requests for your support in club matches or tournaments. Blog competitions - My initial take is that there are substantive competitions elsewhere. I would rather celebrate the outcomes of those events. Besides, as I am writing this there are clearly insufficient numbers to establish and substantively judge blogs. Let alone potential submitters. This could change if circumstances warrant. Though what it would require to be warranted escapes me at the moment. Gambling - Well, don't know how that would work. Just wanted to let you know that creative suggestions would certainly earn a smile.

Have a favorite blogger or list of bloggers you share with your friends. Here's your chance to be a social influencer and let more people know the bloggers you think are great. NOTE: Negative reviews will be deleted by the staff. After all, even bad press will increase the traffic for those people. Why would you want to do that?

Seen a blog lately that you absolutely love? One you share with your friends whether they care or not. Bottom line up front: If you don't like a blog or blogger you can communicate directly with that individual or on the blog you found to be not up to snuff. This forum is currently locked so that no posts can be made. But below you can read a summary of why that is the case. And you can look at the picture for amusement. Why is this locked? As indicated in the rules, I didn't see any way to manage this. Besides, if you cite a bad blog or blogger, all that is likely to do is increase their traffic. After all, we humans are ornery, contrary beasts. And want to make our own judgements. So, I have created this forum to acknowledge a possible desire. And then locked it as I found the potential consequences of creating such a forum a bit unsettling. Criticism all too easily turns into trolling. Bad blogs/bloggers, I put thee behind me. Or in a pentagram just to be sure.

Who are we? We're bloggers! We think, we blog. We play, we blog. We eat, we blog? A list of blog home page links for those who posted that information in the Bloggers: Plug yourself here Forum. Updated haphazardly, irregularly, and as time and circumstances permit. With an occasional attempt to keep it in alphabetical order. How is this different than that page? It's shorter because it only has this one list and no other posts are allowed in this forum . Notification of changes in usernames should be brought to the attention of club staff. Hear ye, hear ye. These are the rules ye shall play by. 1. No swearing. No hexing. No voodoo. No hoodoo. No bad juju. What's the point? Save it for other venues where the moderators don't care. But we won't be absolute prigs about this. Just keep a rein on it. 2. No harassment. 3. Please do not submit negative reviews of blogs or bloggers. Why not here? It is probably more useful to communicate directly with that blogger or respond on the blog page you did not enjoy. Besides, I can't figure out a way to allow that without stepping on a slippery slope to Limbo. Not the dance. The place between heaven and hell. You might note that there is a locked forum addressed to the topic of negative reviews, All: Bad Blogs/Bloggers, but it does not allow posts as I found no ultimate purpose in such a site. Why increase traffic to their posts by listing bad blogs and bloggers you don't like? 4. Please do not plug/advertise in the Notes. Why not? Because there are several forums designated for plugging and we can add more such forums if it seems useful and/or necessary.Bloggers: Plug yourself here Plug your blogs here Advertise clubs here 5. Forums. Only club staff can create new forums. Suggestions to create new forums on specific topics will certainly be considered and can be posted here. Staff will irregularly delete forums that that appear to have exceeded their useful existence. But we will attempt to check with members before deleting a forum. Why not allow everyone to create forums? Bottom line is that I'd like to limit the number of forums as all too often one finds clubs that have multiple forums that should have all been collected under one topic. Or individual forums that have not seen a post in months or even years and whose value appears limited. Bottom line is that I see little value in hosting hundreds of forums. The web is wide enough as it is without adding to the sprawl.

The Future Top Blogger This forum is designed for advertising individual bloggers. We will, probably with little to no regret and perhaps some relish, delete posts that are irrelevant to the plugging and support of bloggers. The idea behind this forum is that advertising yourself can be as important as posting your blogs. As bloggers post in this forum, we will add their names to the "Blogger's List" in alphabetical order by username. It will be up to those individuals to let us know if their name changes. And updates will occur as circumstances allow, life being what it is. The KISS Principle suggests keeping it simple and short. My personal suggestion is to include a small image (less than 200x200 should suffice) of one of your most important blogs and a link to your home blog page. If you have one or two topics that you regularly blog on (e.g., movies, analysis of your tournament games, chess history, chess stories, chess history), you might want to include a quick sentence about that. Or if you have a particular writing style (e.g., satire) that could be worth mentioning. Please don't go bananas and write your entire blog story here. As always, club administrators retain the right to remove posts that cross some arbitrary and capricious threshold that has yet to be determined. Though we will endeavor to explain why a post was deleted. Within the limits of our own conceptions of what is suitable for this club.
