Which I was in your area to see it in action.  Just remember about gun control -- use both hands.

Very nice looking piece of weaponry.  What's it chambered for?  Are those drum magazines for it?  You built that yourself huh?  Impressive.  Must have been some project.  It's always nice to see a project come to fruition.  Well done.

She is my pride and joy.  My Sister's idea, of course I went way overboard with her.  As my Father said " If your going to do it you may as well do it right.  My sister thought this up as my "therapy rifle", to keep me busy when they screwed up my arm during surgery.  It worked well.  I put a ncstar tri-rail on her that took three weeks of grinding and sanding a mm at a time.  She is a 7.62x39, the AK-47 round.  The SKS was made in Russia in the 1940's, it was soon replaced by the AK-47 that was lighter and faster.  Once phased out in Russia it was sold to almost every Communist Country on the European block.  Mine is a Chinese SKS Norinco.  I was very fortunate in the fact that when I bought it, it came as a complete unit. Ie. all three serial numbers matched.  This makes it worth a bit more.  As the parts are interchangeable with a little tweaking most SKS rifles have different serial numbers.  In Vietnam it was used heavily by the NVA.  This round the 7.62x39 had a much higher kill ratio than our M-16, close to 78%.  What it gave up for that kill ratio was distance and accuracy.  it's accurate range is 250 yards on a good day; though there are cases of 500 yard kills, they were very few.  The M-16 is accurate to over 500 yards. My rifle has installed on it: ncstar tri-rail, night vision that allows for wifi, and video recording that includes an experimental algorithm for figuring bullet projection. two infrared lights used to make the night vision extremely effective in 100% darkness, a green laser, (the difference between a green laser and a red one besides the green is twice as much, is that the green laser can be seen with night vision), tactical 3000 lumens light, a red/green/blue dot scope, a red/green reflex scope, an authentic Chinese sling, authentic Russian paratrooper bayonet, bi-pod, two 78 round drums, a 20 and a 40 round clip.  I still need to go rattle her cage, find out any tweaking problems, and then take her down and reassemble using locktight and lock washers where she has loosened.  I can then take her to the range and sight her in.  I will set the night vision at 200 yards, the laser at 150, the red/green/blue dot scope at 100 and the reflex scope at 50.  I have mounted and designed all these things with the intention of being able to switch shooting distances by just moving your head a bit to use each different scope.  By the way the ncstar tri-rail raises the night vision up a half inch, this allows you to look through the tri-rail and be able to use you fixed sights if needed.

I am glad you like her, when I take her out I will post you the pics and vids of the trip.

Speaking of gun control, I found this little gem the other day.  Enjoy.
