Seeking NCP Testers - Apply Here

Hi all,

The CGA team is looking for a few helpers. We're down to just 3 CGAs now, and although we feel confident the job could still be done between them, it can't hurt to have some other players around who know the ins and outs of the NCP testing process, and are willing to contribute their skills and insights. Having extra forums moderators should also decrease the wait time between when you submit your thread, and when we respond.

Anyhow, I don't need to go on too much about why we're looking for helpers, but I think it is important that I explain carefully what we're looking for specifically. I know there are many players who frequent these forums who are beyond willing to volunteer, but if you can't commit to the following job expectations, it would be better for us, and the community at large if you waited to apply until you're ready.

1. We're looking for NCP Testers, not CGAs.
   1. Since this may not have been explained in the past, NCP Testers are add-ons to the CGA team. You'll participate in testing positions, and forums moderation, but tournament management, listed custom position decisions, and other CGA abilities are left to the actual CGAs.
   2. There's never an expectation that NCP testers will ever become full-fledged CGAs.
2. There is a time-commitment. If you're only able to be on 4PC or the forums for an hour per week, this won't work. We're looking for players who are online at least 3 days per week on average, and would be able to work with the team to find times for testing (at least a few hours per week)
3. There are requirements and procedures to follow. If you're the type of person who has a difficult time following directions, or playing by the rules, this isn't the position for you. Our team values personal responsibility, trust, and thoughtful communication.
   1. You'll be asked to complete tasks in a pre-determined manner, and you'll be trusted to do that process thoughtfully, carefully, and diligently so as not to make mistakes. If most of your NCP or WoF threads were responded to with "Requirements not Met," that may be an indication that you need to step up your game when it comes to following simple instructions.
   2. You'll be expected to share your opinion and insights when testing positions. Of course we don't want you to just agree with everything we say, which also means you'll need to be able to express your thoughts effectively.
4. We aren't setting any requirements in terms of age, punishment history on 4PC, NCP/WoF acceptance rate, rating, etc., although you'll be more likely to be selected if you have shown yourself to be mature, skilled in variant play, and creative when it comes to position creation.
5. We also aren't setting an exact number of how many NCP testers we are going to select. We'll judge the applicants independently, and with any luck, find at least one of you rapscallions to be qualified!

That's it! We're opening up the applications today, 1 June, and giving you all 2 weeks to prepare and submit your applications. The last day to submit the form will be 14 June. Good question. The answer - No. We're also not asking for your name. There are aspects of the NCP tester job that require us to share documents via email, but I suppose if you wanted to make a throwaway email to preserve your anonymity, that's entirely your prerogative.

Another good question. Yes, you can list ratings from other accounts. But we will check to see if it's actually verifiably your account, so don't just say "mY pREvIOuS aCCoUnT wAS bOxJellYFiShChEss" and expect us to take your word for it.

Well, actually, I kinda forgot what my previous peak rating was, so I estimated it. Is that fine?

For the question asking how many variant games we have played, does that include hyper variants?

Now I am feeling that I should improve my teams variant rating. Anyhow 2 weeks are enough for that if I will not face internet issues.

But I saw there is nothing about teams variant rating in the form. Is it not necessary?

My FFA variant rating is approx 2000.

I have one question. How are you going to say us who is new tester on 14 June?

We test games when there are team members available. If we need to change the schedule to better accommodate new team members, we will.
