I too am almost always out ranked by 300 points and lose far more than I win because I'm up against more experienced players. But, ah yes the big But! When I do win I feel great. And I pay close attention to their play. Since every game is different, it's not fast learning, but slowly I do learn. In truth, I much prefer to play players far above me. So I am quite fine with it.
As to a possible answer to ChesterMike's question of why don't the other play? Maybe they're involved with other clubs and have a full plate right now. Or perhaps they are playing non team games against friends or other high end players. Or, maybe they called in scared.
Either way, keep the games coming, I like playing about 6 games at a time. I like playing the other player twice, but not at the exact same time. I like to finish one game before the other starts.
That's my 2¢ worth. Did I over charge?

Hi Mike! I too am somewhat surprised at the turn out for our matches at all levels. A club our size should be able to easily muster more than the teens numbers of sign ups. To that, I thought perhaps more matches would draw interest back to the groupand re energize our base. I would also encourage admins to recruit folks they know who are active playersand thereby increase our participation numbers across the board. To the specific point of being out gunned, yes, I've noticed that also and I sometimes wondered if it were a function of a larger club having more highly rated players signing up but honestly, not ebough data is in to be conclusive. Next idea would be to offer smaller, banded challenges like up to 5 players u/1300 5 players 1301to 1499 etcI'm sure that all of us in the admin box are open to and eager to hear suggestions and ways and means to propel our group to the level of activity that it should have, so please Good Companions, chime in here or message me or another admin! Mike, I truly appreciate your comments and friendship!

I do think tighter banding would help. Another activity performed by other groups is the chasing of specific groups by Admin. For example when we are ‘light’ of higher players in matches up to 1800, then send individual notes to players in the range of 1800 to 1600 inviting /requesting them to play (including a link to the enrolment page). This does work!

Good brainstorming friends! I'm hearing some positive suggestions that will help our club offer a wider variety of matches and encourage players at the higher levels to come out for the games. I have seen the "calls to arms" for higher rated players to join a particulat match from such groups as Chess Champ so that is a good suggestion Mike! Sivestring, you have a god idea with vote chess and tournaments. The best one for tourneys was Curt (Cmd Bond) s but he is temporarily ( we hope) away so I'll need to get up to speed on those formats or ask other admins for advice on setting those up. I had also hears from pothers that they like a mix up in the time format so i have tried to vary from the standard 3 dau per move format at times. Keep the ideas flowing friends so that we WHO love The Doctor and chess will have a vibrant active home!

@ChesterMike is correct. At least at three matches I found myself on the first board and through I'm honored and everything I really shouldn't be on first! I checked the members according to the rating and im on the 19th (!) place. I don't know how many of those high rated members are actually active it is for admins to check.
The individual notes and pm for high rated members prior to match sure help. Another thing, admins should make the news item for every incoming match, and may be couple of times. Me, for example, usually know about the matches from news, I don't check every club for open matches, I have too many.
Another idea is to put the links for the open matches at the top of club page.
And try to participate in tournaments, like 1WL or TMCL. People prefer to join tournament matches for so e reason, myself included.

Ive not been a member here for very long but I would like to share an observation.
In the tournaments that I have played for Doctor Who and am currently involved in I found that I’m consistently outranked! I’m a 1425 player and have always find myself matched against players 300 points stronger. Initially I thought that this was because we are short of players at the ‘senior’ end. But no this isn’t the case. We have multiple players at the top end of ratings. I can only conclude that for some reason they don’t want to represent Doctor Who in these tournaments.
im not looking for sympathy but would love to know why players aren’t participating?
