Sheffield Clubs

Hi all, I just joined this online club - haven’t played club chess except a couple of games at Uni ~20 years ago. I have returned to chess the last couple of years thanks to this app. Now thinking of venturing out into the wide world to sit and play chess over the board. I haven’t ever really trained or studied chess formally - I tried reading some books but found it hard to learn that way. Anyone here playing with a local club? I am based in Dore so considering a visit to Ecclesall chess club as that’s nearest to me.

Hello! I'm with Woodseats chess club; we actually share the same venue as Ecclesall, but we meet on Monday evenings (Ecclesall meet on Wednesday evenings). The venue is The Abbey pub on Abbey lane in Woodseats, so, not far from Dore (we are closer than other clubs). If you want to get in touch before turning up, both clubs have websites online with contact info etc. Best of luck with it!
