Sicilian Wing Gambit Nanu Gambit

Sort:

Not too long ago, Cheers! Vote Chess Cafe scored a win with Romanian IM Cyprian Costica Nanu's rook sac line in the Sicilian Wing Gambit.

GUILLOTINE

move 12  black plays Qf4 why Be6?

rigamagician

12...Be6 13.Bxb7 giving back the rook, and sacrificing another pawn?  You are a true gambiteer!

looks interesting there is a similar rook sacrifice theme in the Gruenfeld but I forgot what it was called.

rigamagician

How does the line go?

http://www.chess.com/article/view/an-exchange-sacrifice-to-beat- I found it very interesting and still do and will try it against the Gruenfeld.

I don't usually play 1.d4, but that is interesting.  According to the notes, Bronstein played it in a game against Boleslavsky.  It seems to be pretty popular.

Another Nanu game although here they only grabbed a second pawn, but not the rook:

Don't forget Sac, Sac, Mate vs. Indian Marauders.

You liked that one, did you?  We tried out one of Gonnosuke's suggestions, sacing a bishop as well as a rook.

How can one not like this game? ;)

One of our opponents, urvang, was kind enough to say that this was the most interesting correspondence game he'd ever seen.  Team Canada recently won another game in the same line:

Careful that smells like a refutation to me.

Has anyone ever tried this it seems fascinating and GM Bronstien even drew Deep blue with it but what would happen if black does not take the rook. Heres the game where old crazy Bronstien drew Deep Blue. http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1238112

Hello riga.

What if Black plays 12 .. Nc6 instead of Qf4 in your first diagram?

White plays 13.Bb2 and adds to his considerable development advantage. The longer white can chase the queen, the better off he is...

in the first game,Cheers! Vote Chess Cafe vs. Narz's People. after 6.C4 why not bxc4 EP

What ever whites reply black has an easy game? exchanging pieces and surly wins the end game?

rigamagician

6...bxc3 7.Nxc3 mobilizes a new piece, and attacks Black's queen.
