When the latest app update was released, did you install it over the one on your device ? or did you close the app, completely un-install, then install the new app ?
For interim: the sounds can be turned off by
settings / sounds/ media / turn that one down and the sound stops for moves.
We're looking at adding a setting where you can turn sound off.
Sorry :(

Doing what you have suggested will also turn off the sounds for every other type of media (music, games, videos, etc). Pretty much not acceptable in its current form.

Agreed Kohai. This app is pretty much unusable to me until you get a way to turn off sounds. Please fix fast!
Same thing on my Droid 2. But since the Droid 2 and the Droid X are very similar internally, this is not surprising. I may e-mail and ask for the old version back myself.
Ok, we've added a 'turn off sound' option to the app, its being updated.
Is that all that was done? Or was there a fix for the crash bug too?
Yes, although that wasn't something i was able to replicate :( (i'm not the only one testing the app crashes thankfully)
I have a droid wildfire and an emulator.
If you or anyone is experiencing crashes, i need to know step by step exactly whats being done your end when the crash occurs.
gghacibeh did you remove the app or install over it ?
Can you try this for me please
Can you go into settings /manage applications / chess.com
clear data, then un--install and go back onto the market place and re-install the app.
In the meantime i'll see if i can locate an emulator for the droid x
The latest version in the market enabled sounds and there is no way to turn them off. There needs to be a way to configure this or this needs to be removed.
