Speed Vote Games Played to Completion

Most of you have now gotten a taste of just how much fun these games can be if they're played right, and played till the end.  Most of you have also gotten a taste of how disappointing these games can be when they time out prematurely.  That's actually why I formed this league in the first place.  The Dark Knights were playing Speed Vote Games almost every Saturday, but every game ended in a timeout (except for the games against the Fast Players Group who were good enuf to play us MANY times).  I couldn't believe that we were the only 2 groups who were willing to finish these games.

I am happy to report that since we started this league, we have had 13 games that were played to completion!!  If the last 2 games in the regular season don't timeout, then the timeout ratio for our league games will actually drop below 50%!!  Thank you to all the groups who have made this season and this league so very enjoyable!!

Outside of the league, I have been watching as MANY MANY 10-min/turn Vote Games are started, but not finished.  Since this league was formed over 2 months ago, only THREE Non-League Speed Vote Games have NOT ended in timeouts!!  I can't even tell you what the percentage is, because I can't count all the games that DID timeout (there's WAY TOO MANY).

Here are the 3 Non-League Non-Timeout games:

Chess Empire defeats Kairav's Chess Masters by submission (move 43)

Chess Maniacs defeat Chess Unlimited by submission (move 17)

The Power of Chess draws against Burning Pawns (move 15)

As you can see, 4 of the 6 teams are already in the league, and the other 2 will be joining us for the next season.  I am just very excited that those of us who enjoy these games now have a wide range of teams to play against who are willing to put in just as much effort to keep their games alive as we are.

Keep up the good work everybody!!  And thanks for making all of this SO MUCH FUN!!!

We've just has a 4th Non-League game played to completion (14 hours 16 minutes) in what could be a preview for Season 2:

The Burning Pawns defeat Kairav's Chess Masters by knockout (move 42)

Congratulations to the Fast Players Group who appear to have won the first ever Speed Vote 960 game (by knockout - move 12):

And yet another game between Burning Pawns and The Power of Chess goes the distance:

The Power of Chess defeat Burning Pawns by submission (move 34)

Looks like there's quite a rivalry brewing here.  Wink

We have played several more, but they often time out quickly.

Yeah, I've noticed.  That's exactly why I formed this league.  So that teams who enjoy these games can plan games with other teams who like them just as much, and actually play the whole game out.  9 times out of 10, Open Seeks end in a timout on one side or the other (usually in the first couple hours).

Since we started the league, it is:

Team Antartica vs Kairav's Chess Masters = 58 moves / 21 hours 4 minutes  (19:00 Wednesday - 16:04 Thursday (GMT))

Yea and it's Power of Chess 2 1/2 Burning Pawns 1/2

Those are the games that are completed we have a lot of other games that either we or them timed out

34 moves even though it didn't finish it was in the endgame

and that game would probably have been a different story had it not been for the chess.com bugs during the first day of the game. before the game stalled, the burningpawns were on top.
